Awesome, I opted for the "2 interface" method - works great! Also, I figured out how to add a headphone cue mix in Ableton, say 9/10: add another ext. audio effect to the "monitor" chain of the audio effect rack you created, with "audio to" going to 9/10....also, wondering about my "audio settings" in OBS: Is the "monitoring device" my "good interface" as opposed to the "janky interface"? I'm assuming so..thanks so much for your wisdom!
@DoMusicFullTime4 жыл бұрын
I use the janky interface for OBS and my good interface as the input and output interface for Ableton. This way when I record guitars or vocals I'm using the best preamps I have to go into Ableton.

@@DoMusicFullTime Thanks for getting back to me -Yes, this is how I've set it up, following your tutorial. But what I'm confused by is this: In "Audio/Advanced/Monitoring Device" settings in the OBS software, if I set up my monitoring device as the janky interface, does that mean I'm hearing what's going out to the streaming world? Or does it matter? .. Right now, my monitoring device is the "good" interface (Saffire Pro 40) and it sounds great to me! Thanks again for your tutorial; I spent way too many hours with Soundflower trying to figure this out..

Hey bro, thanks for the info!!! I've been checking around doing research on recording DAW into OBS, I first used virtual cables/black hole and have been referred to other software/virtual cable setups and loopback, After fiddling with all audio settings and routings and banging my head against a wall "inside the box", I've decided to go with a 2nd interface, using 3/4out into 1/2 in, into OBS, I use scarlett 18i6 plus scarlett octopre for a total of 16 inputs with live drums and everything, trying to avoid multichannel audio sources inside ableton, and using the intended soundcard to avoid all latency, and using hardware connections... problem solved, clean as a whistle I was concerned I use Mac LAPTOP, 16GB i7 with a terabyte SD, So far I haven't hit any walls in my processing to my knowledge, but the interface is in the mail, and il be putting it all to the test once I get situated , first and foremost thanks for cutting out all the bullshit of virtual audio routing , I haven't checked out your music yet, but il have a look see here soon. obviously I'm using 2nd interface, (3rd) lol but I'm not intending to use another laptop, il keep your words in the back of my mind and keep an eye on my processor once I get everything up and running, but if I encounter any issue with this can I contact you concerning CPU? thanks a lot

@DoMusicFullTime4 жыл бұрын
Any capture card will work. But if course you get what you pay for. Some cheaper cards have latency and don't make it easy to get live drumming synced up with the audio. you can always buy one try it and return it if it doesn't work as long as you're within the return policy. I just generally try to buy things once and not spend the time messing with them.

2 interfaces? That's silly. Why can't you direct monitor your mic and use blackhole to route to obs? If it clicks and pops, increase your buffer size. Maybe 13 ms latency before you use compensation.
