Just keep trying the startup repair steps (shut down computer, turn on, shut down during startup, turn on again and start the startup repair process again). I clicked on the little red arrow and a huge black "Recovery Manager" screen popped up (covering the screen I was working on), with 3 options "I need help immediately", "I'd like to identify and problems" & "I'd like to take precautions". Look for 'sethc' then just add a number behind it. For example 'sethc4'. Then look for 'cmd' copy it and paste at bottom of that same list. Then change the name of the copy to 'sethc. Then back out and click on finish. Laptop will restart, then at login press 'shift' 5 times then cmd will open. type: net user (name) * , press enter twice and you're done.
