they also do NOT like their blooms touched! i also put mine outside in late spring till mid october, they get a month of cool nite air, that is the key to blooms, not to bring them in too soon and wash the leaves well with a spray before you do

Could you please tell me how to wash the leaves, I'd be ever so grateful!! Thank you!!!

I put my plate in the sun outside and just learned that I shouldn’t have done that. It’s still alive and it’s July 1 but it looks very yellow in that bright green at all. I just moved it to my screen porch which is not in The Sun yet I don’t know what to do to make it look healthier.

Why do my flowers and buds fall off so soon? I heard you shouldn't move the plant once buds have formed, and even turning the plant in its spot can cause drop-off. At least this film helped tell me about watering correctly. Thanks.

Based on my limeted research, I think it may have something to to with light levels. Christmas cacti need short day cycles to bloom (about 16 hours darkness per day for *at least* 8 days.) I have heard that often the side facing away from it's window or light will bloom, and the lit side will not.

Nice video with so many information. I have a christmas cactus and its leaves on tips are turning marrons colour and so many roots are coming from segments. What does that show.. I dont like the roots hanging from middle of attachment of segment branch..

It means they look for moisture. As well they show be fine and okay, just looking out for space and moisture but not water.

The plant shown is actually a Thanksgiving cactus
@Rosebud-273 жыл бұрын
Doesn’t really matter much. Most countries don’t even have thanksgiving. It’s more important that the botanical name is correct. Common names are not very important.

This is NOT a Christmas cactus, it is a THANKSGIVING CACTUS. Please educate the public with the correct plant name to the plant.

Christmas and Thanksgiving cactus are the same thing. Britain does not have Thanksgiving!
@donlussi24243 жыл бұрын
That is incorrect. A Thanksgiving cactus is Schlumbergera truncata. It has points on its leaves, grows short upright stems, (hence the name truncata) and has different blooms than the Christmas cactus. It’s blooms are like a dancer that bend upwards from the stem. And it blooms ahead of the Christmas cactus. The Christmas cactus is Schlumbergera Buckleyi. It does not have points on its leaves but rather rounded edges and grows long arching stems. It’s blooms are like fireworks that shoot straight off its stem and it blooms after the Thanksgiving cactus. These 2 plants are clearly not the same. I raise all 3 the 3rd being the Easter cactus. I ask that you do your research from a reputable horticultural site and learn the differences. Thanks.

We don't call them that in Britain and the European Union....only in USA...guess what? You're not the only folk in the world...

A plant doesn’t change its name just because it’s in a different part of the word. Do you change your name if you move to a different part of the world?
@pamtidsbury736 Жыл бұрын
