Please don’t forget to mention a good, healthy skin regimen. Just like foundation garments are important for clothes, good skin is important for flawless makeup. Drink plenty of water, always clean your skin before going to bed, don’t smoke etc.
@tumwinebarekye62013 жыл бұрын
Hey , I would love to know more about cleaning my skin before bed and especially what to you use, could you help me.. Thanks 😊
@lorrainefisher73613 жыл бұрын
@@tumwinebarekye6201 hi there! Well everyone’s skin is different, so what works for me may not work the same for you (in the way of products) but there are certainly things you can do yourself which are good for everyone’s skin; drink plenty of water, eat healthy food, don’t smoke, limit alcohol consumption, don’t stay out in the sun at peak times for too long and always wear sunscreen. Always remove your makeup before going to bed. Black skin tends to be a bit thicker and can be oily in the t-zone, so your care products must reflect that (nothing too heavy/oily. Good thing about that is black skin doesn’t show age as much so you will look younger longer! You should still use a light moisturizer though. If you have access to a department store with.skin care counters they should be happy to give you a quick lesson about your skin after looking at it. They will of course want you to buy their products but don’t feel obligated! Goes without saying that good sleep and rest makes a difference, but the reality of life is that it’s not always possible. If you have severe skin issues like acne/eczema/rosacea that would require a doctors professional help, but my previous suggestions will help any skin type. Hope this helps.

This is exactly how I carry myself! From The natural color one toned sleek hair to the the simple one color short nails. To the fine dainty jewelry and the minimal clean make up look is super spot on. I’m glad I saw this video and I enjoyed your recommendation on how to purchase quality items one at at time. I’m frugal when it comes to buying clothes but it def makes more sense to spend a few extra dollars on a piece that would last a while than on multiple one wear items!

Great advice and agree on all points👌🏿. Another accessory that always ups your game is pearls. We have similar style... I love classic looks, clean lines and solid, monochromatic looks...black, white, navy, red, camel beige, creams, etc. Pops of colour are via my bags, lipstick and accessories. Jewelry is also dainty and tasteful, preferably gold and some form of "ice". Since we produce platinum here in South Africa🇿🇦, that jewelry always goes down well and looks less ostentatious than gold. A good mix of affordable and high end brands make for a great mix. Makeup should be light or soft or soft glam, never overdone. People have called my style old fashioned, but I've always loved the fashion influences of the ladies of the 40s and 50s and Coco Chanel, Carolina Herrera, Jackie Onassis... I call it Understated Elegance💕 Also can't stand the Gucci top to bottom look, which is why I don't really wear their stuff. It really looks tacky, yes🙈

More than aspiring to "look expensive" ladies please also focus on BEING expensive. Work on your finances, invest, save, plan, the stuff that really matters. Also, be yourself!!!!!!! Dress in a way that is authentic to you. Theres are some things I heard in this video that missed the mark like "people will value you more" "they will open the door for you" ....if this is your goal then please reevaluate. Dress in a way that is authentic to you. However....the tips about outerwear and coats was spot on though!

Unfortunately the part about when you look the part people do respect you more. I have found out the hard way going to stores not Polish because I was taught when you have money look broke unfortunately when you look broke you get followed around the store. when you look expensive the same person is holding the door. No you don’t need them to and nobody should inspire to but it’s very nice to have it just the same. I was a teen mom and Realize very quickly when I came dressed in my business suit the teachers respected me they didn’t judge me or look down at me with remakes likes a child having a child or say I’m just another statistic. That was 30 years ago lol but we still live in a judgmental world 🌍

Thanks for taking time to comment lovely. I appreciate your feedback. You are absolutely right about saving and investing but that’s a topic for another day. In terms of “ people will value you more when you look good” this is absolutely truth. You walk into Chanel store looking rough and nobody will give you attention or value you. They will follow you around the store as if you’re about to rob it. I’ve experienced this myself at a Gucci store and many others because I didn’t look the part. Thanks again for your comment txxx

Awesome! Have you considered shopping resale, consignment, Mercari, ebay, and more? I bought a $300 Beirn snake skin leather bag from Goodwill in America for under $6 as well as a B. Makowsky handbag for the same price. I bought a pair of NEW Coach black leather boots for $35 (I wear size 10M). If you decide to shop through Mercari, make sure that you can spot the fakes, learn what's real or have the item authenticated as they only take returns under special circumstances. I would add that we should have a couple of little black dresses that are ready for multiple occasions.
@mulliganstew723 жыл бұрын
I agree with what Alisha said! I never had a ton of disposable income but love going to Goodwill & consignment. ,Marshalls, Ross and TJ Maxx are stores that sell brand new items that are sometimes Less expensive than Goodwill. It’s also awesome because you can practice taking care of high quality fabrics & get to wear high quality without going broke. Alicia mentioned The online marketplace which is also awesome and people will haggle with you, so if you put things in your cart, they may offer discounts on items. 😊 All my clothing now is silk, leather, fur (unpopular opinion), linen, wool, Cashmere, etc. and Have gorgeous accessories to match. I don’t necessarily have aa lot of haute couture labels but that’s not what’s important to me.

Twist outs are beautiful and can look polished and elevated as well. 🙂 Straight hair is most definitely something that the Eurocentric society deems as the most beautiful, but as a Black women I disagree. As far as being polished, elevated and expensive looking, a nice watch and a couple of nice bracelets can add to the aesthetic as well. Overall, nicely done video!
