Always have this issue when I have to pick up an outfit that rides the line between casual and dressy. But I don't think that if you want to achieve a smart causal outfit you necessarily need a blazer. I think the dark brown suede jacket you wear in one of your videos can be a solid alternative to the jacket and still look smart and casual. Because usually for us, fashion enthousiastes, it's ok to wear a blazer but for common people it might still be a bit too much. Anyway. Love the color combinations in this video. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Ah, finally a smart casual outfit video. Outfit #1: The light grey blazer with navy chinos and white shirt is a classic combination, but it's more business casual than smart casual for me, so still a bit dressed up for everyday wear. Outfit #2: Ah, professor Sacawa right here for you. Well, jokes aside, this is actually my favourite outfit. The jeans and tweed jacket combine so naturally with each other, and the chambray shirt is perfect shirt for such a rugged yet elegant countryside fall outfit. Outfit #3: Now this is what I call a great smart casual look. The chambray shirt and jeans with the gun club check blazer is a very good combo, especially when you're getting dressed for a nicer restaurant on the weekend. Outfit #4: Now this is my least favourite look. Whilst I do like the tonality of the dark grey jacket to a light grey sweater and finally the white shirt, the outfit overall doesn't combine very well. To me the dark grey jacket clearly looks like an orphaned suit jacket. I know that it's a flannel material, but the colour being dark grey makes it a bit formal to be combined with jeans and takes away from its versatility to be separated and combined with casual trousers. The hat too is something that I don't particularly like with this outfit. Outfit #5: A very unique and beautiful colour combo. The outfit looks neutral and earthy at the same time. The light grey flannel jacket works well with the beige turtleneck, but white pants seem a bit too loud for this outfit, although I don't doubt their versatility. Overall, although this is a smart casual outfit video, I was quite surprised that you didn't include more casual jackets such as the suede trucker jacket or the peacoat in this video. All of your outfits consisted of blazers and sport coats... which is a bit of a letdown for me as I think that combining a pair of smart odd trousers with a more casual jacket is equally as smart casual as combining a sport coat with jeans.

Great video as always, Brian. I wholeheartedly agree with the first look's bottom line - the basics and a simple pallet could go a long way. A grey jacket is so versatile, I honestly don't get why it isn't in more "top 5 items you need to have" lists. I have a little question - Do you believe that a double-breasted jacket could fit with this style? I really love the look, and I wear smart casual outfits - but I just can't figure out how to integrate them in my outfits. It always seems extremely formal. As for the beard - I think it's nice, but it's a middle-eastern look so I'm kinda biased I guess lol. Cheers!

He styles a no break in his trousers that hit just above the top of his shoes, as do i, which is one of the 4 proper trouser lengths now cropped is not a traditional gentleman length and Brian's isn't cropped so he's good, about 2 inches higher and you would be correct. How do you feel about the need to match the color of leather Brian? Asking because the Cartier in the first outfit seems to have black leather which doesn’t quite match with brown belt and shoes. I tend to get stressed out matching the color of metal or leather often.

My advice to you regarding that is to loosen up. It's nearly impossible to match everything exactly and matching everything exactly is the antithesis to looking natural. People who get super worked up about that sort of thing need a hobby. LOL (And it's a navy blue strap on the Cartier.)
