Iron or steam all your clothes! I recommend ironing wovens and steaming knits, many silk items are fine with just a steaming, too, but iron before first use to get packing wrinkles out. It makes a huge difference, even if they pick up a few creases during wear. Check everything for spots or grime when you take it off, in good light, then treat any right away. Clean and polish shoes.

I was gonna say the same. It makes a world of difference to wear ironed clothes. Fabrics, that tend to wrinkle, can be controlled by using spray stifener when you iron it. Another matter, which I haven't seen addressed as often as it in my opinion should be, is wearing nylon pantyhoses, when wearing dresses and skirts, and nylon panty hose-look-alike socks, when wearing trousers. It's an aweful, primitive trend walking barefooted in your shoes. It's quite prevalent, but that doesn't make it right. Would Mrs Thatcher or the late queen do that? Hardly. I'm sorry to hear that, Angela but, here are a couple of things that you might like to consider: 1. I always walk in sneakers or totally flat shoes and then change when I get to wherever I'm going. That way, I don't have to actually walk in the heels! 2. I favour nearly flat shoes which look like court shoes/pumps from the front but have the comfort of flat shoes. One thing I would add, if I may, is to focus on a body-skimming fit and not to wear anything too tight, which just does not look attractive at our age. Better to hint at what lies beneath. Agreed, for me, age 64, another basic rule is to show less skin no matter how great your legs or cleavage is. And, as Deidre mentioned , " A good cut is paramount." So to me, to look classy is to show off your "silhouette," but not too tight.

Loving the channel. I am pleased to say I can copy most of the outfits from my own wardrobe. I am just tweeting how I wear them. I always try to buy classic good quality items that I keep for years. @@christineribone9351 After the pollution-ridden air found in central London and the tiresome 25 years spent commuting to work (2hrs each way), it was an absolute delight to move to fresh country air and the friendliest people I’ve ever met. So in answer to your question, I love the countryside. Wherever we drive, there’s beautiful scenery, ever changing colours with the movement of the sun. And unlike the crowded streets of London and the south-east part where we lived, here, when you say “I’ll be there in 10 minutes”… that’s when you arrive! I’m sorry to hear that you don’t like where you live. You have my sympathies.

I temporarily moved to a desert state to assist my elderly parents. After they passed away my brothers abandoned me and I wasn't relocated as they had promised they would. Consequently, I lost my high income job, my house and all my furniture. It's a very desolate and impoverished state. Drugs and crime are high. Only 13% of the population have a college education. The people lack sophistication and culture. Your little town sounds nicer! I wish you lots of happiness! Thanks for sharing! ❤

Great advice and i would like to add i have bought many quality pieces, linen, 100% wool black full length coat from thrift stores and quality heels some new with tags still attached or gently worn. I also like Mercari online shopping you can look up clothing by designer name, or store brand also sometimes new with tags. I totally agree that a good handbag and some beautiful shoes - goes a long way….. some designer labels have ‘factory sales’ - u have two beautiful Mullberry bags - that I could NEVER have afforded otherwise a tan heritage Bayswater that was £1,700 for £500 plus a small evening bag for £350 instead of £900 and a beautiful dress for £90 instead of £600. I totally agree I gave 2 jumper dresses in cream and fawn that were under £50 instead of £300 by designer. I also just ordered some beautiful jumpers from Box2 (for the mature lady) that are beautiful - you can shop around - I also got a beautiful designer scarf from Bicester in a great sale - I have a stunning slate grey sleeveless summer dress that when I wore in Italy got tons of wonderful comments - and it was from Sainsbury’s and cost me £8 in a sale

I always have to tailor my clothes. I had a jacket that I didn’t wear but I just love because it had shoulder pads. I took it to the tailor and had them taken out and now I wear the jacket all the time. The tailor always shortens my pants. I love taking my clothes to a tailor because then they fit me perfect
