It’s crazy how Breece Hall and the defense got them this record. I feel bad for jet fans. When you pick a QB pick #2 you expect transcending talent. Not a game manager that you “win with” not “cause of”. I always screamed that Fields was the second best QB in the draft but the media fell in love with Zach’s pro day. And the best highlight of Zach’s pro career is his pro day. Jets are a QB away from dominating. Q Williams is playing out of his damn mind. They have the best corner duo in the game. They have weapons on the outside. And they get their full OL back next year. And they get the future CPOTY next year in Breece next year. They just need a competent QB. Hopefully they find their answer. I hate seeing a great defense go to waste.

Yes Wilson is a bust. But if your going to talk about accountability, then the Jets organization is equally responsible for him being that. Once is unlucky, twice is a pattern. Since 2018 the Jets have had two top two QB prospects and both were busts, not just busts but horrible busts, something is rotten about the Jets ability to develop QBs. Maybe it's scouting, maybe it's coaching, maybe it's the team culture, IDK but it's something. The Jets shouldn't try to develop a QB for a good long while and go for vet QBs.

A couple of things. First, I think the Jets should keep Robert Saleh longterm. This franchise needs stability and he has shown himself to be a true leader, even with the receipts comment. Second, I think you may be right about Zach Wilson. He may have a future in the league, but the Jets blundered at making him the second pick in the 2021 draft. However, I think he is indicative of a larger problem in the NFL. Two forces have combined to put young QBs in the cross-hairs. Players can now come out early, so they don't have the benefit of maturing over 4 years in a big university program. At the same time, you have the CBA which has a 3-year rookie contract. This leads to a situation where young rookie QBs are put on the field from day one when they aren't ready to play. This wasn't the case in the past when teams could allow a young QB to carry a clipboard for the first year or two, learning the game before becoming the starter. With the rookie contract issue, teams have to start rookie QBs almost immediately since they only have 3 years to decide whether to keep them or not. If Zach had stayed another year at BYU, was able to learn behind a veteran for his first year or two and then start, he would be in a better position. I think this is the same thing that happened to Sam Darnold, who left USC before his senior year. Instead, the Jets are pushed to play him since his rookie contract is done after next season.

I'm a jets fan, I've watched every minute of every game this year. Zach Wilson hasn't been atrocious, he has been doing enough to win games (besides the NE games). He could definitely do better with the people he has around him. But he can't just blame others for no reason. Zach still has plenty of potential to be a franchise QB. But in order to do that, he needs to change his attitude and learn a lot more. And possibly sitting on the bench behind joe flacco and Mike white isn't the worst situation. The jets are a young, winning team this year and don't need all of this drama in the locker room for a team that hasnt been this good in over 5-10 years.

As a phins fan, normally I would tell jets fans to exercise patience with a young qb like zach. Tua went thru a similar phase and is now coming into his own. Same thing with Josh Allen his 3rd year. Look at the patience the Bills and Dolphins exhibited with their current qbs respectively, and now look at what they are doing. One has performed at a MVP level for 2-3 years, and the other is just now coming into his own and also performing at an MVP level. BUT, and this is a huge but, the main difference between Allen/Tua and Zach Wilson is that they always took accountability for their performance, especially if it was bad. You cannot be a franchise qb if you are unable to look at your performance and be able to see where u fucked up. I do think Zach Wilson has the tools to be a good qb. He's athletic and has a great arm. But if what's between your ears is lacking, then you wont ever fulfill that potential. I do hope Wilson figures that out soon.

I still remember the look on Zach Wilson’s face after he got drafted, like he was thinking “Oh shit, what have I gotten myself into?” He looked scared as he walked up to the podium.

I'm glad we didn't end up drafting him, and I'm saying that as a niners fan who's 1st round qb is injured right now. Even if trey isn't the best qb yet, I think he's got a much better mindset to improve than Zach wilson

Watching that game (pray for me cause it was truly awful) quoted an interview with Wilson about the earlier Pats game, and he said he was happy “how many balls he threw away” WHAT?

Wilson's 2021 QBR of 28.2 is (to quote JaguarGator9) worse than if he had done nothing but spike the ball into the ground on every single play.

So glad that he’s getting exposed. I’ve been saying that Wilson ain’t that dude the moment the media & draft “experts” claimed that he was better than Justin Fields. Wilson played at BYU where the competition was a joke!! He was a fourth or lower round talent at best. The amount of hate that Fields received from the media was so ridiculous!!

As a Jets fan I never wanted Wilson. He didn’t have anywhere near this kind of challenge at BYU. I much preferred Fields but thought with the great weapons and supporting cast I hoped Wilson could be something. Now Fields is succeeding with nothing and Wilson is lost and not even able to take responsibility.
@koolkitties85522 жыл бұрын
The Jets are six and four Chicago is three and seven so who's more successful?
@zdoggzero65952 жыл бұрын
@@koolkitties8552 Still Chicago. The Jets may have a better record but probably no qb, whereas the Bears might have their future qb to build around
@dylanstack87102 жыл бұрын
@@koolkitties8552 Yes but you are missing the broader point of my argument. Which QB is better? And within the context of what? Fields has been a better QB than Wilson with no offensive line, at best middling weaponry and no where near the defensive support the Jets give Wilson. Given the choice between Wilson and Fields to be the QB now and in the future to select Wilson would lack any objectivity. Besides the fact that Fields would be a nightmare paired with the Jets run game.

Zach Wilson is just Dwayne Haskins, at this point, the lack of accountability, the childishness, the poor throwing mechanics. Being a commanders fan, it's literally like getting into a time machine and going back to 2019-2020.

Teams like the Jets, Panthers and others who can't seem to get the QB position right should focus on building a strong top 5 defense, a strong run heavy o-line, stout running backs and just go with journeyman QBs. Just beat the opponent down with your defense and run the ball like what UGA and Michigan do in college.
