I noticed that you forgot to state that lowering will also give you a really bouncy ride on the front end. I have done it before and it got a really bouncy ride. if you want to have a smoother ride and still want that low end you could also spend a little more and get drop spindles. then use the torsion bar to lower even more.

@motorman111jld5 жыл бұрын
Did he say it was good on gas? I have a 97 with a 5-speed and I do good to get 14-15 miles per gallon driving it like it’s a baby. And if I drive it normally that drops to about 11-12. One time I got close to 20 but never again since. I’m thinking my numbers was off that time. I honestly have had 3 full size trucks get mileage over 20 mpg consistently. One 2000 Z71 5.3 4x4 automatic I could get 21-22 mpg. (That was the only one that year I had that did) Two an 87 K5 blazer 4x4 automatic I got 21 mpg. And three a 1991 dodge 3500 Cummins automatic 2x4 would easily get 25+ mpg consistently. The little hardbody is fun to drive but it certainly would not be my choice based on fuel economy or space and comfort. I got it cheap though.
@STONEBROKEGARAGE5 жыл бұрын
Maybe there is something wrong with maybe the fuel filter or dirty air filter? When mine was all stock I got about +25mpg driving it like a grandma
@motorman111jld5 жыл бұрын
STONE BROKE GARAGE I thought that too but I’ve changed air filter, fuel filter, slightly adjusted timing in every way I could and drove it to see if there was a difference. I’ve even gone as far as changing exhaust to a more free flowing exhaust. The only thing left I can think of is maybe the timing chain has too much wear on it. I just find that hard with just a little over 100k and you don’t hear it rattling.

if your toe is on point it will last way longer , thats what chews up tires more thwn anything. 2°of negative camber isn't even bad. I've ran my other truck for about 3 years without showing and bald spots and I got the tires used. that tells you something

I had a '96 with the tosion bars all the way down, loosen the two bolts holding the upper control arm on and put I believe two, (maybe three, thinking it might be one 1/8" for every inch lowered) 1/8" shims in and tighten those bolts back down and your tires will be straight up and down again and will wear like normal.
