Soluble fiber foods (lower bad cholesterol and sugars, making you more insulin sensitive): Oats, beans, lentils, salmon and other fatty fish, eggs, nutbutters, seeds, unsweet yogurt and kefir, fermented vegetables, leafy greens, grapes, blueberries, apples, citrus fruits, and avocados. Eggs are high in cholesterol but studies indicate they do not add to human cholesterol. I've also read free range eggs may be lower in cholesterol if you're not convinced by recent studies. They are now saying 2-3 eggs a day are fine. Think about it - in nature, predators are always stealing eggs for a reason. It isn't because it's a dangerous food. .

My diet I changed to eating meat only at dinner. I air fry instead of frying.. I can't do coconut products, butter, or Kefir. It took my LDL to 179. I do a Smoothie on most days. My Smoothie consists of frozen (kale cubes, blueberries, strawberries, avocados), uncooked oatmeal, hemp seeds,,chia seeds, cacao, 1/2 serving size of Vega Protein and Greens Protein powder, and Spring water. I am at my best Cholesterol in over 24 years. I am now at Total 158. HDL 70, LDL 81, TRIG 39. I have never had a LDL under 100. For Breakfast, I eat steel cut oatmeal about 3 times a week and beans once a week.

Dr Mandell, I started following your channel at the start of COVID a few years ago because I was looking to improve my immune system to have a better chance of surviving if I should be afflicted! I did not take my yearly full health control until yesterday! The results are in: I lost ten kilos, I have a metabolic age of 46 ( I am 61) and my bad cholesterol had more than halved and has been replaced by good cholesterol and I had added 30% more muscle mass! Thank you for your guidance and never ending efforts to help all people “one day at a time”!👏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾

Is this good for anyone? My father used to do this but he always put a little hot sauce, and tomatoe juice. But never the egg shell!!! He was a health food lover!!!! Always trying different things when he wasn't out of town. I remember he would call McDonald's the devils foods. I said I would never eat any of the bad food..... But I got a taste of it and it was nasty. But then I was tricked with crinkle cut fries 🍟 & I loved them. But I stopped all the bad food but soda my go to is Coca~Cola. I don't know how to put it down. I hate plane water!!! I will make healthy cucumber water with chia seeds, and mint leaves. But I have to grind the chia seeds up bc I have hypothyroidism, & high LDL I'm at a 5.9 I just found out and I'll never go back to that doctor I still don't know about cholesterol levels or high LDL. I just know that your HDL IS THE GOOD ONE. Sorry I left that on caps. I'm trying to find a doctor for hypothyroidism but I forgot the name of it. And find me another primary care physician. I'm really interested about your smoothie pls 🙏 have the rest of a good day!!!

Hey Dr. I needed to hear this. This is my issue!! For real. The thing my doctorS don't say is what are soluable fibers!! Duh. That is what needs to be told. Not just eat more fruits and veggies and water. Im like i do that already. So. Yeah. Thank you Dr Mandel for being specific. Only thing I'm allergic to a lot of those things you meantioned. Like nut butters, avocado, citrus fruits etc. . On top of that I'm a type 1 diabetic. Smh. Thank you for the information!!

Stay away from statins, if you can. They have a detrimental affect on your muscles. I am sure there are other not so good things that they do to you. Research before getting on them.

Hi, my blood test came back at a 5.9 this was a new doctor! I never went back to him bc he cussed at me for no reason at all... He would give me information about my blood test but the 5.9 I told him I didn't understand he told me to lose weight😢 and he is bigger than me. All I can do is pray for him. I'm trying to fine another Dr. I wish I could find one just like Dr. Mandell, I know I would get the right answers, and not have to do my own footwork. To find other doctors he wanted me to go to. I'm still trying to find out where my levels should be at a 5.9 I don't have a clue. And I also have hypothyroidism!!! I have the same problem putting down sodas. I'm not to big on sweets, I mean I am but I don't have to have them. I crave sodas coca~cola.... I wish you the best of luck that we both can put it all down. God bless!!!

I apologize that doctor also wanted to put me on stantin!!! But I said no I don't want a pill or pills... I'll just do what I've been doing eating my super foods. I'm 241.5 pounds but it's in my stomach and hips and butt...... I was told to eat super foods. Not by him.... and do heavy weight lifting from a lady doctor who was on point with my hypothyroidism. This is before I got this primary doctor who I will no longer ever go back to. I'm 48 I do walk. I just want to know when I prick my finger being at a 5.9 what is a good number and what is a bad number? It hasn't been long that I found out. So the LDL OR A1C OR IS IT CHOLESTEROL IDK ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!! Sorry for the caps. Have the rest of a good day!!!

5.9 is pre diabetic anything above 6.5 is diabetic. LDL It's reversible. Eat a plant base diet. Try Metamucil. No fried foods. No red meat. Walk. Exercise.

I am a great believer in sauerkraut. Sauerkraut is great for gut health. You said fermented vegetables which would be sauerkraut, but I believe you just need to bring out sauerkraut because I believe it is one of the best for gut health

The doctor told me that I had 900 cholesterol and I’m 40 years old and not very overweight 6 tall and 190 pounds. I don’t eat fast food but I wasn’t working out or really taking care of my self and I had a bad habit of drinking like 8 beers and a cigar a day so I quit that! Hopefully it will go down 😢
