How to maintain your Shark® Vertex™ Ultralight with DuoClean® Engage vacuum

The Shark® UltraLight family of vacuums can take on any mess. But what happens when the mess gets stuck?
When the vacuum is powered on and in upright mode, the brushroll indicator light should always be green. This means the floor nozzle is functioning properly.
If the light is red and the brushroll is not spinning, this could mean that there is something caught in the floor nozzle.
If you suspect you might have a clog, have a coin handy and follow these simple steps to clear it.

Good vacuum, but a few design flaws I ran into with my Vertex. Bought in September 2022, use it every day for a cleaning business. The latch mechanism that holds it upright broke after 3 months of normal use, not abused. The parts that broke could have easily been made from metal, preventing this. Also the 3 wires yellow, white and blue that are in the articulating section of the brushroll head got rubbed through and broke. These wires could have been routed through a protective sleeve or wire loom so they wouldn't rub on the moving parts (I had to solder the wires back together and also put them in a loom to prevent it from happening again). Then there is the fins on the brushroll crack and split causing hairwrap in those areas. Lastly, the bin could be bigger a with a bigger inlet that wouldnt clog so easy. Other than that, it is an overall good vacuum.

That is exactly what is happening w/ one I just borrowed. I've done all the trouble shooting I can to get the soft brush to spin, but it's not. Only the carpet brush is spinning and it's pretty gutless. I borrowed my aunt's Vertex Duoclean to see if I wanted to get one and this is how it came. Yikes, she's going to blame me for doing something to it, but it won't switch to floor mode and it gets really hot, really fast from the motor. She takes great care of her vacuum. I checked filters, checked for clogs, nothing really to see.

@@SharkHome is there a way to reset the shark vertex after it overheats? Our at times will overheat and we need to wait 30-45 minutes before the brush will spin at full speed again.
