Thinking outside the box and venturing where many investors are hesitant to can pay off handsomely. Three years ago, I took interest in stock trading and I currently have a well-structured portfolio that consists of both stocks for long-term investments and short-term trades, with the goal of having enough retirement funds when I am 40. At 39, my dream of an early retirement came true. I now enjoy a comfortable retirement and earn about $400k annually from a seven-figure portfolio.

@Gregg Bartel I made the most profit with the aid of my coach Todd Schmidt, whose expertise helped build a portfolio that has helped cleared all my debt, and established a sustainable flow of income. He covers every aspect of investing, including stock picks for retirement and monthly income. Todd made a trade profit of $76,000 for me with a $15,000 investment in my first six months, so I have every confidence that my portfolio will continue to perform well.

I'm a pallet builder and make great money doing it... im not sure where this information is coming from but it is not entirely accurate. Most middle to larger size companies have to buy their incoming pallets from a company, said company also buys the cores (broken pallets) back from the company they supply. Second, there are a lot of, "pickers." Those are the guys who go around making money collecting pallets. You usually see them with a beat up truck and pallets stacked so high they look like a hazard. They can make $500+ a day in the warm months. The catch is that they are in and out of jail constantly because most of their pallets are stolen from company yards...
@WARPSPD
@WARPSPD 3 жыл бұрын
I used to manage a pallet company many years ago and its not that easy. If you have a pick up truck and simply want to make a quick buck, then just go to businesses who are looking to get rid of them, and sell them to a pallet company for quick cash. Don't assume that when you see pallets behind your local Shoprite food store that they will just give them away. You have to ask a a manager first or it can be considered theft. However, If you want to get into the repair and resale of them, you will have a lot of expenses involved. First, you have to find a yard/building/ truck or trucks/forklifts to store, repair, transport and sell them. You also have expenses for equipment such as air compressors , pneumatic nail guns, nail refills, breaker tools. Also, there are many different sizes of pallets that many companies use so you will need the yardage to store the different sizes. You also have to hustle finding companies willing to buy from you on a continuing bases. I have never sold only 10-20 pallets at one time. It has always been by the hundreds. You will not be able to do it alone. You will need workers to help repair pallets because no company buys broken ones. Then once you open this business, people will hustle pallets TO YOU in their pick up trucks for quick cash! Good luck.

Pallets are shot together with nail guns. The nails have a glue on them that is heat activated when the compressor forces the nail into the wood fibers. Trying to pull these nails out well... you will have better luck trying to brush a badgers teeth. If your time is not worth squat than waste it working pallets. Most are unwanted. Those buying will chisel your 4$ pallet down to 2 and even 1$. Then there's your gas and the wear and tear on your truck. If you are a thinking man, you will figure out that it is costing you money to do this. You will find yourself in a business of progressively diminishing decline. That means that you are working your truck towards broken and yourself towards broke.

Well having been in the retail business a while back, the company I worked for had a distribution ctr, and we got delivery three days a week, and we were charged a deposit of 12.50 per pallet. We would have upwards of sixty to a hundred pallets on my dock weary week. Then someone started doing this and stealing our pallets from out dock at night, this went on for a month or more, until I made a police report due to my main office demanding that I do that. Well guess what at 12.50 a piece it doesn’t take long until it was a grand theft issue. Yep one night I get a call from the police department requesting me to come to my store . They caught the guy with over a hundred pallets of our company in his truck and trailer, I had marked every pallet with the store name and location. He was arrested and placed on five years probation on top of paying restitution to the company. So I know things are different now but I would just be careful before just grabbing pallets from any location without permission.

Back in 05-08, my dad and I sold pallets to a man we went to church w/. He owned Pennisular warehousing and trucking. Dad had a trailer and a full size Chevy w/ a hi topper. We would sell pallets to him and we made about $400 a round- 50-60 pallets. We even repaired broken one from broken ones. I was a courier, so I would bring one or two home a week, some times more. Good side hustle.

The training course is $2000+, you need to buy or rent a full-size truck and maybe a trailer, Drive all over to pick up and deliver these for $1 to $3 each if you're lucky. Fuel right now is $5-$6 a gallon and a loaded truck is going to get, what, maybe 10-12 miles to the gallon? Maybe it's me, but these numbers are not adding up.

One thing I will say, if you're going to do this, make certain you clear this with whoever you're wishing to get pallets from. Big box stores tend to be tight on the pallets as they are reused and/or sent back to distribution, and you can forget about any pallets used for concrete and cinder block, as they get charged for any pallet that isn't returned to the distributor, which is also why places like Lowe's or Home Depot charges a "pallet charge" whenever you buy concrete and wish to keep it on the pallet.

Very true, standard 40x48 pallets are not ever left out to be stolen. The pallets are often swapped 20p of mdse in 20 empty pallets out. CHEP and PECO pallets are purchased and inventoried. Soda companies swap their pallets and also use plastic pallets. The only pallets left out are garbage or odd sized pallets

Then I took that trade in credit and bought any video game that was on sale for $1.00 and sometimes buy one get one free and would end up with double the amount of movies that I bought. Sell the games back to the pawn store at $2.00 a piece. Did this for a year until the game store decided to move south. My local pallet buyer is paying $4.00 for what is called a A Pallet which is a 42" X 42" 4way pallets and $3.00 for what is called a B Pallet. So if the pallet is 42" X 42" 4-way pallet that doesn't have any extra blocks or pieces nailed in to fix broken then that is a A Pallet now if it does have extra blocks or pieces nailed in to fix it then that would be a B Pallet and is $3.00 not a bad way to make some extra $ for some hard work

You do research and if you're not satisfied with the information you find, you actually experiment to see for yourself. The WD40 headlight lens video, the lock videos, the cooler comparison, the breakfast biscuit for bait fishing trip, the camper DIY projects, the camping videos...I could go on but I think my point is made. What's crazy is I remember hanging with truckers in the late 90s is that truckers were actually charged for each pallet they dropped off and did not get back an equal the same number of pallets in exchange. Now working in a receiving job, truckers don't care if they get pallets back. They no longer get penalized for not getting back an equal number of pallets and actually get offended if you offer to give them return pallets.

Have you ever wondered why Kayak7seas ? The reason is simple if you put yourself in their shoes. They need an empty trailer to pick up anything. The weight distribution & specific way a load is to be ordered excludes anything that the driver would like to haul, unfortunately.

I tried this back in the early 90's and in this decent size town of 40g population , I tried smaller businesses and they all had something set up or they handled their own pallet issues, even the marina I worked for wouldn't allow me to take any pallets, must be such a different economic size between here and there that businesses can't keep up for this to be a thing. Also I found out that alot of places already had a guy and they wouldn't be unloyal to him or sometimes he even had just a whole entire pallet business and it was like their was no way to crack that code. I think when the size of the problem is so much bigger in other town's the availability for opportunity will be vastly different. I definitely like your idea and plan to look into this again because of the near zero cost of investment to get started, but it will likely be similar because we're so small and pretty sure theirs no pallet place around like you showed in your video. But it doesn't hurt to try again, I need a extra little something I can do.

Some of these channels are all about big city areas where potential might be huge. But, what about small towns of around 5000 or so like where I live? As I type this I know of about 80 pallets that I could go scoop up with my box truck. BUT, the nearest pallet yard is about 150 miles away. I've tried to give some away and to sell a few. A little luck giving them away but nobody wants to buy any. Not on Marketplace and the local on line classifieds anyway.

In my area alone there are 2 pallet recyclers/manufactures. Neither pay for pallets and neither need anyone to deliver their pallets to any business. The one business has stacks and stacks of pallets at the front gate from people dumping their pallets off free. And they take them and resell them. No money to be made there. Another pallet place paints their pallets and they “own” all the painted pallets and businesses that use the painted pallets have to pay a fee of $75 per pallet but they get the pallet back and they give the business back their fee.

I fill my garage with pallets from work. When I get two or three hundred pallets. I take them to a place near my house and they give me $4.00 for every good pallet i bring. So I repair all the broken pallets. I only work on Saturdays for about 4 hours repairing pallets. That way I don't loose $2.00 for broken pallets

Walmart will pay people money to bring back shopping carts they find that are blocks or more away from the store. I know people who make $50 per shopping cart. All you do is call Walmart and tell them you find some shopping carts and ask them if they would pay you to bring them back.

As someone who's worked in a grocery store and seen (only one example of) how pallets are handled. Can you explain why you claim Walmart and other store are paying people to get rid of these pallets a little more... To me the simplest solution seems to be after every truck load, the empty pallets from the previous shipment are then loaded onto the then empty truck trailer and returned to the warehouse (which is where the truck is already going anyway) to then be reused. From what I was told, at the store I worked, they didn't handle their own distribution network as does Walmart, so they store was charged something like 5$ per pallet used during a shipment. The store would also get the same amount credited back for every pallet retuned. Once again, this was one experience and one example which may not have even been factual. However, it seems like a very simple idea and a easy way for everyone to solve their own problems without any additional cost.
@dantebbe
@dantebbe 2 жыл бұрын
Anthony Luc, this would only work if a store had in-house truckers. Walmart, for instance, doesn't hire trucking companies -- all their deliveries are done by company trucks. In that case, they could indeed take the pallets back. Most every other company uses a transportation or logistics company to get their product from point A to point B. Truckers can usually only make money if they are taking full loads everywhere. A truck might go from New York to Raleigh NC, and after dropping off the load in Raleigh, pick up another one a few blocks away and take that to Jacksonville, FL. They need to be paid for every trip or they start losing money fast. It's cheaper to buy new pallets than pay for them to be transported.

I was doing this in the 80s and 90s and my Ex father in law started a business as an independent sales rep. When the pallets yards did not pay enough he sold business to business. He never did repair because it's too time consuming for a few pallets and takes away from profits. I made good money doing this on the side, but am in my fifties now and can't lift heavy stuff. Some of the pallets that need repair can be repurposed for projects which can pay way more than 5 bucks.

Sure, but it is easy to forgot after a tire blows out dropping them off at place full of nails on the ground, all your profits go POOF, not to mention the gas for a truck and/or trailer. Something I found that can be profitable is fixing dead fridges. People give them away free every day when they don't work, after you learn how to fix them, you can sell them for $200. So best case, is $200/day. Now I must acknowledge I've had some really hard to fix ones, and I don't give up, someone smarter than me will just haul it to the dump if its not an easy fix..

I am a local truck driver in my area so i get to see customers who stock up the older/used pallets so i ask em what they do with em to save a hassle i offer them $1 for each pallet. Once they say yes you can negotiate with them to save em for you. most of the time they say yes and ask em to save you the decent pallets. Then go find a metal place or a company that dont mind the quality of the pallets and charge them $3-$6 a pallet. Thats how i do it. Hope this helps you.

I have to say I have never heard of this. My family’s business uses a lot of pallets daily both coming in and going out and pallets are scarce. No one is wanting to get rid of their pallets let alone pay someone to get them. People have approached our business to buy the pallets and we do not sell them at all. Maybe in your area this is a thing but that would not be a lucrative business where I’m at. Maybe I’m missing something but pallets are like gold here and everyone is hanging onto them tight.
