The hard part is finding a producer who will help a first or 2nd time director. I check out that book. Never heard of it looks cool.

Question; on the films you’ve made, are the Directors including Directing fees or other above the line fees or are they keeping all of that out to make the most from the budget? I’m guessing at these budget levels they aren’t getting enough off backend to sustain themselves as filmmakers either and require have other sources of income? Thanks

Good question, fees are coming out ATL

@@AlexiOuzas Would you be willing to give a ballpark figure of what the Director fee would be at the $1-$5m level or as a percentage, 10%? I'm wondering whether excluding a Directing Fee or any other fees that myself as Writer/Director would receive could make a significant difference to the overall budget. For instance 10% saved could then be added to production or contribute to better sound in post and so on. If budget was super tight, even at the higher end of low budget, seems this could be at least useful as a backup small cash injection, if not simply planned that way to begin with. Can a Writer/Director forfeit all fees? Appreciate your insights.

I'm lost. So how do you make three and not run out of steam after one?

Manage your expectations on the first one, roll straight into the second one
