Van Rivera this was made when KZbin just started. Things were different then people thought they had to be more polite and tv acceptable like pg content. 2017 KZbin is clearly way different then when it first started now they can actually be themselves and it's okay. Hope that makes sense lol but that's why

Whether you use paper tape or duct tape, I highly recommend making a personalized body form. This is especially true for the GUYS out there that do costuming for cosplay, historic reenactment, halloween, theater, and so on. Yes, we do exist. And no, fabric stores typically don't give a crap about us. You're not going to find a "dress form" at JoAnne's that will work for a 6'1" 210 lb dude.

It's so crazy to see such an old video of you guys!!! I made a duct tape dress form a few years ago and honestly hated it. It ruined every single pin that got near it. But recently I watched another one of those videos and some people in the comments were talking about making one with water based tape to avoid the issue! Went searching, and I found this relic. Can't wait to try it out!

That was a great tutorial. I made one a while ago, cause I have a particularly difficult to fit body shape, but I made it out of plaster bandages. I did the same thing they did here, but with just one layer of tape to get the basic form, then I covered it in plaster bandages, wetting them and molding them. It made for a really nice form, though I must admit it doesn't hold pins too well. I'm gonna make one of my huge pregnant belly, too!

Having done several of these, we found warm water seemed to stick the packing tape better. Also if you are very curvy and busty, the in half strips are better around those curves...
@mumsez9 жыл бұрын
C Lovell The gummed tape - as its called in the UK - comes in different widths so having a narrow roll would save a lot of time. Wet it enough with a sponge dipped in warm water to be pliable; if you soak it, it becomes messy to use and takes ages to dry. You can always wipe over it with a damp sponge if needed. Removing any stuck to the table is done by soaking it again and lifting it off. Useful for those who haven't yet made one. ;)

You can also go to the hard ware store or your nearest wall mart and buy a metal shower curtain rod the good thing about these is that they adjust in height, and if you do not have a tree stand you can use and umbrella stand, these you can get in different designs or just a cheap one will also do the trick.
@SpaceBandit66614 жыл бұрын
Just made mine! Its pretty good with the packaging tape, the only thing I would have different is use a thinner plastic bag (used a thick one and it made layering difficult) to make my body form more accurate. Overall, I just saved about $100+ by not buying a factory made mannequin, so im happy. Maybe in the future Ill buy a professionally made one but because I dont sew too often, this is good enough for me!

I got an adjustable form on eBay for $58. I wanted it more pinnable though, so I gave it some padding, padded out the chest a bit for more natural form and made a new cover from some sweatshirts. Now it looks real professional and is perfectly my shape - and it was quite cheap... :)

"paper packaging tape" is what is written on the real product @ Staples. In the instruction it mentions 1)fiberglass reinforced 2) gummed adhesive seals with moisture. 2.8inches*125 yards about 7.99 dollars. In case anyone wants to get it.

love all the recycled aspects especially the stand. I made one a long time ago with medical plaster tape but i didnt consider the stand and I ruined it. I was going to get a dressmakers dummy but I'm half small and half medium, and they're pretty expensive to make a mistake purchase and still not necessarily be the right size or shape, saw the uniquely you pinnable forms, but there is a self making element involved... so I figured... why am i just not making the whole thing myself anyway.

Awesome body form tutorial. Could you possibly introduce us to organizations that work abroad in 3rd world countries? Stufff like taking the products made in a rural community and bringing them here to be sold. I wanna try this. Might I suggest perhaps going to the hardware store and getting a length of pvc pipe. You can get it at a bout 2in diameter most places. I doubt a bunch of people keep a tree trunk around. Don't know what to do about a base for it though. Gotta think about that some more.
