A few weeks ago Michters posted an 'Orchard Old Fashioned' recipe. 2oz US*1, 1oz Apple Juice, 1 barspoon maple syrup, 3 dashes Angostura. I played around with it for a few days because i felt the Apple was lost in it. Ended up on 3oz bourbon, 2oz juice, 1 dash bitters, 2 barspoons maple syrup.
@boozeontherocks2 жыл бұрын
That sounds tasty Jeremy. I will have to see if I can find the Michters.

Going to need a bigger shaker for the gallon size... I wonder if the construction site across the street would miss the cement mixer... Thanks for sharing this. I've been looking for something new to try! I love hot apple cider in fall. This is sounds like a great adult version!

2nd comment. I know you like to use juice straight from the fruit and I just read of a way to do that with apples. I haven't tried it yet but apparently if you freeze, thaw, then squeeze apples all the juice will pour out of it.
@boozeontherocks2 жыл бұрын
I will definitely have to try that out. Thank you.
@bobsawyer19392 жыл бұрын
Going to make the gallon version for a party. Obviously that would be tough to shake. Would you just simply mix the ingredients then pour over ice and add the garnish for each individual glass? Thanks!
@boozeontherocks2 жыл бұрын
You can definitely do that. Batching would be to add about 1 oz/30 ml per cocktail. So you could add your water first or just add it to ice. And enjoy :)

Oh I love the Fevertree ginger beer! That must give this such a nice, fall-friendly spicy vibe! This looks like a perfect autumn drink. Wonderfully done David!

I had to improvise because my grocery store here was sold out of apple cider. an alternative I made up was apple juice and fireball for the cinnamon kick. opinions may vary but my friend and I thought it was alright.
@boozeontherocks2 жыл бұрын
Sounds good. How much apple juice to fireball did you use?
@odinvolk69732 жыл бұрын
@@boozeontherocks same ratio. 2 fireball, 3 apple juice. only other difference is I don't have a shaking glass so when I re-create these they're all stirred.
@boozeontherocks2 жыл бұрын
@@odinvolk6973 That makes sense.

Do you have a recipe for the non-alcoholic apple cider? Because I cannot buy this where I am in the world.
@boozeontherocks2 жыл бұрын
Here is a recipe for you: Ingredients 10 large apples, quartered 1 orange, halved 4 Cinnamon sticks 1 Tsp Whole cloves 1 Tsp Whole allspice 1 Whole nutmeg 1/2 cup packed brown sugar METHOD 1. In a large stockpot over medium heat, add apples, oranges, spices, and brown sugar. Cover with water by at least 2”. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, 2 hours. 2. Remove orange halves, then use a potato masher or wooden spoon to mash apples. Return to a simmer and let simmer uncovered for 1 hour more. 3. Strain through a fine mesh strainer, pressing on solids with a wooden spoon to squeeze all juices out. Discard solids. 4. Serve apple cider warm.

Hi, enjoyed the vid, one criticism and not personal; sometimes it would be nice to expand ingredients to accommodate those of us outside US Apple cider for instance for us in UK is always alcoholic, what you appear to use is apple juice, also, believe it or not Bourbon is not widely available, I've personally only experienced Jim Beam or Jack, and frankly they're not to my taste, I thought tho, you said the apple was spicy, just wondered if I try the recipe with spiced rum, would the mx be compatible? Anyway just a heads up and thx for the idea. :)
@boozeontherocks2 жыл бұрын
You do bring up a good point. I will have to see what I can find that might be similar. Go for the spiced rum. It will definitely work
@dereknesbitt53782 жыл бұрын
I should amend outside of US to outside of Canada, ofc similar applies. Love the bar space btw, very cosy.
@dereknesbitt53782 жыл бұрын
Have tried, he sice rum version using Cap Morgan spiced which is vanilla forward, I went with equal arts rum and apple juice 60 mil of both. Quarter of a lemon squeezed into each drink, topped up with ginger beer, I used Bundeburg, taste was something like royal icing or really good vanilla ice cream - very drinkable. Thx for the idea ;)
