The modern pop trend of hyper processing vocals is definitely going to make it easier for people to get away with using AI vocals in their mixes. I kinda love it and I'm kinda scared shitless at the same time of what the future holds haha

Would love to see you cover how to make something akin to an Ethel Cain song like ‘American Teenager’ or ‘Strangers’. Yet to see anyone break down her style on KZbin. She produces all her own stuff by herself too which is pretty cool! Loved the video once again :) The best channel on YT for this stuff I swear.

I appreciate your content. It was ironic for me to read your background, and that you started out in metal! I play guitar at the most elaborate level for thrash and melodic death metal, sing 7 octaves; the whole 9 yards, but love a wide variety of electronic music and work on my own fairly consistently. Far more constructed work than I put into metal. It's too easy and convenient to just shred through arpeggios, sleazy rhythms etc.

Hey Austin, can you do a video on how to get that very recent Serban Ghenea vocal sound, best heard in songs like Too Much (Jung Kook, Laroi, Central Cee) and Seven (Jung Kook)? I hear this elusive smooth, “fluffy” texture in the mids that I can’t wrap my head around. In some ways you can hear this texture in Tate McRae’s greedy as well, even though someone else mixed that song. Curious to know your take on this. Thanks!
@MakePopMusic11 ай бұрын
Serban is INSANE with mixing. I'm definitely still working my way up to that but I'll see what I can do! I'm in the process of getting some new monitors and redoing some acoustic treatment that will be a huge upgrade so I'm sure 2024 will have much more mixing content on the channel!

Can you make a video on how to mix vocals like charlieonnafriday? A song of his that sticks out to me is Dolla Signs. There is something about his ad-libs (modulation/sound field EFX) that just add so much to the mix, it interests me a lot! His producer Tyler Dopps is also definitely on the come up and has some incredible production on his latest records. Love the vids, keep it up Austin!

this is probably gonna be the dumbest question ever, but with these videos i’m always lost right at the beginning with it. writing lyrics and melodies comes naturally to me, but i don’t play any instruments other than singing. my question is, for someone like me, where do you start? how do you “outsource” these instrumentals? i feel like i sound stupid asking this but i genuinely don’t really know how to go about it, and it’s the reason why my songs never go anywhere other than my drawers. can someone give me a clue?

Can you explain to me what kind of pop Sia does? I want to create beats like this but I don't know where to find suitable samples and instruments because I don't know what kind of pop Sia makes. Is it also in the direction of dark pop or is it more indie? Or something else?
