Just as the card board core was used to make the back plate strong, you will find paper and card also have a dimensional structure. If you take into account that cardboard and paper has a grain to it and you place the pieces to best work with that grain based on how each peice needs manipulating, rather than cramming them all together in random directions as they are on the templates, you'll find it easier to curve and bend the card where needed when it comes to assembly. Great example is when that first horn is getting made. You can see it is not really curving. This is because of the grain of the cardboard. The piece was not cut to make optimal use of the grain direction to assist with curving the piece. So thinking of grain as a bunch of straw, you're breaking them trying to make the folds, had the grain been going the other way you would have had a smoother curve.

I've never paper mached anything before. I like modeling though and know how to digital model. Someone recommended I try paper mache for some pieces for my Halloween costume and I found your videos. OHMYGOD I had no clue paper mache can make things look so clean! And it's so cheap! Seriously such a game changer for me! I'm so inspired to make so much, thank you so much for making these videos this is such an amazing craft!

This is so great I made a 9’ octopus out of paper mache for my first attempt at paper mache sculpture… was crazy.. lots of errors but finished him! Now I’m doing smaller ones so this was very helpful!!!

Great job. Making good videos is tough work. You did an amazing job. And that dragon is really awesome. I came across your channel because I was looking for a technique for making a bunch of Halloween pumpkins for the haunted house I run. I'm not sure if you take requests, but I'd love to see your take on a jack-o'-lantern. Is there any way to make paper mache slightly weather proof? Keep up the good work. And thanks for the great content.

Wow. For sure you did a good job. Actually you did a super awesome job of sharing an incredible dragon. Did you use iridescent paint as the dragon glowed with greatness. Definitely interested in more dragons.

"Glowed with greatness" 🤪I like that! No, I didn't use any iridescent paint, but I have some Dragonfly Glaze I should def try on the next one!

I'd love to see you turn this into a unicorn because I really want to make a large unicorn bust for my front hallway. Also if I were to make a dragon probably I would blow it up to be a bit bigger but is there a way to mount it on the wall without the base plate?
@janesawyermakes10 ай бұрын
So I already have turned it into a unicorn, I just haven't shared that. If you don't want the mounting plaque, you could trim it to the outside of the neck. It might be harder to balance though.
@janesawyermakes10 ай бұрын
I'll try to post a short with more info on the unicorn within the next few days.

Bellissimo ❤❤❤ grazie mille 💕 come posso proteggere la scultura dall😢 umidità?! Grazie ❤❤❤
@janesawyermakes11 ай бұрын
The paint and glue should protect the sculpture from light humidity. If it's REALLY humid where you live, try an outdoor polycrylic. You should try not to get these sculptures very wet. 😊
