Nice work Bill. We move in to our new house this week and need to zush up the entry way and get rid of the ugly painted feature wall. We were considering using the VJ panelling, but I think this looks better. I'll have my wife have a look at your work and see what the boss thinks :)

Hi Bill. Great work. What do you do with navigating power points?

You can measure and design the layout to avoid them, move the power point or cut around it.

Looks great Bill, that should earn you a lot of brownie points with the missus! Just one question Bill, what type of paint did you use? Same flat paint as the walls, or did you use a semi or full gloss? Asking because it looks prone to catching dirt from grubby kids running up and down the hallway, but using a different paint really would make it a lot harder to paint!
@billshowto5 ай бұрын
Walls were painted in taubmans ensure winter ice low sheen and the wood work was in taubmans enamel winter ice low sheen. Exact same brand, color and sheen just a different type of paint ( both water based )👍

hey Bill what is the stud finder you use, I can't seem to find one that's completely accurate
@selfreliantliving20225 ай бұрын
Hi Again Bill - I know you said paint was Taubmans Endure in Winter Ice - but was it Matt or Low sheen? BTW I have measured out our hallway and into kitchen living area now - will have to go old school with the leveling as I have no laser beam leveller - but should still be ok-fingers crossed- I will take my time. I am off to Bunnings in the morning to get what I need - so far, not including paint - I will be up for approx. $185 for all materials which I am very happy with- will keep you posted on my progress😀

Did you paint all the panels yourself with a spray gun?

All with a brush, can’t risk any over spray 👍
@selfreliantliving20225 ай бұрын
Hi just to clarify - the wall where the 5 panels are from the front door measure - the panel width is 516mm as per your diagram - on the other walls which I assume are different lengths? did you choose the same size panel of 516mm too regardless of the space, and just have bigger gaps to center each panel width or are your panels different sizes with a 90mm gap always (so how ever many fit to the space)?? Just trying to figure it out as its not clear if all panels are the same size on the video - looks awesome by the way - and I am definitely going to do very similar. I'm confused which way to go to give the best look - I'm sure I am over thinking this. I guess, do you treat each section of wall as an individual space and try to get panel width similar in size ? Is that the best way (meaning gap spacing and panel size may vary slightly?) please explain how you tackled this as I can clearly see the walls are different lengths and angles?
@billshowto5 ай бұрын
Hi, You're not over thinking it, that's an important question. You are correct that the spacing remains the same all around and the size of the panels can vary to suit. Easy way to work it out is to look at the space and see how many panels would suit that area. Then you can calculate the size of the panel based on how many you want and factoring in the spacing in-between 👍👍👍👍
@selfreliantliving20225 ай бұрын
@@billshowto that's awesome - thankyou for clarifying on the same day of query- I really appreciate it - perfect ! Now I will forge ahead and do as per your suggestion 🙏

Looks good but I can't do that. The butchers who built our house made a massive mess of the walls and *EVERY* wall in the house is not flat. The worst one is 12mm concave surface over 900mm. 😖😖 A big downer on this it that it creates a whole lot more horizontal surfaces to collect dust. 😱That's a massive amount of extra work when cleaning the house. 🤦♂
