Having favored this channel for about 8 years now, I enjoyed the 'show & tell' biography as much as the picture frame build. As I recall, Jon, you have also mentioned how lucrative and a ready market there is for professionally built frames, as well.

hi jon even though i don't know much about art the way you explain everything you makes it so much easier to understand and i watch a lot of youtube wood workers as i use to make fitted kitchens and fitted furniture here in ireland for s living a job i loved but due to severe arthritis in my spine i had to make the difficult decision to give up the job i loved the point i wish to make is that watching you and your projects and the fantastic way you communicate with your subscribers is second to none there is no over the top trailers or clickbait just honest down to earth presenting and i love the way you share your home with us i always love when i see a new video from you even though the american way of doing things differs from the irish/european way of woodworking in that we use concealed hinges and adjustable legs in our kitchens no matter what way a piece of furniture is constructed once it is done with a quality craftsmanship and care and attention like you show in everything you do then its going to be a top class item wishing you a happy easter to you and yours regards james

I like the way raw canvas looks, but I want it to hold up so I seal mine with a waterbased matte clear poly and I find that it brings out the “grain” of the canvas as if it were wet. Looks good on linen too

Yes that’s about what I do too. I spray it on the canvas after stretching but before painting.

Hi Jon. Have you ever considered creating your own version of a Mondrian style painting? Just a thought. A video of how it was designed, painted & framed would be nice to see. Thanks.

Great idea Maybe one day… this painting definitely has that Broadway boogie feel … Reminds me of one of his very early works a gridded painting of a tree.

are the kapex 120 cuts not repeatable enough that you have a dedicated miter saw for the 45°?
@JonPetersArtHome7 ай бұрын
It’s just that I have the other saw set up with a sacrificial fence.
@andrewmcgibbon97857 ай бұрын
You can use mat medium to dull down acrylics. Oil paint on un-primed canvas is a no no. The linseed oil in the oil paints will break down the canvas over time. Jackson Pollocks paintings are all slowly rotting away because he used unprimed canvas. (He also used things like left over house paint)
@JonPetersArtHome7 ай бұрын
The canvas is sealed first with the water based polyurethane

If people don't understand that this is artwork maybe they should look up Wassily Kandinsky, Damien Hirst or Piet Mondrian. There is genuine intellectual method behind the madness. ;) John's painting is very much a riff on Hirst's work.
