You just taught me something very important! I've read books where they say to string the wire (after attaching the clasp) back through several beads. This was always very difficult for me to do when attaching the second clasp. Now I don't have to do that anymore! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for showing me YOUR way!

This tutorial was great for beginners such as myself. I've always adored the idea of the "floating" necklace but never able to get the "gist" of crimp beading. This was very well explained AND the fact you took your time explaining without distracting background music and/or pointless rambling made it THAT much easier for me to follow and create. You have a new subscriber for sure! Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing what other beautiful works you share.

Wow, you made putting on crimp covers look a lot easier using crimp pliers than my jewelry teacher did.she had us using flat noise pliers for the process. I can't wait to get home and finish the necklace I started - using crimp pliers instead note. :-)

Very nice to include putting covers on the crimp beads. I figured this out in my own jewelry making by just striving for a polished look and professional finish. If u look at commercially manufactured floating necklaces, well in my experience anyway, they leave the crimps bare. Soon the wearer has a scratched, irritated décolletage! Nice vid.

if you want to put a crimp cover on all your crimps, I guess you could, you would just need to leave a little more room before and after the bead before you crimp to allow the crimp cover to sit correctly. in the video she says to leave a 1 1/2 inch space between beads. I hope this helped.

Loved the video instructions. Plus this one had good sound, with others I could not hear what was said. Will be looking for the crimp covers. Do you ever use the crimp covers for crimps around the whole necklace? My crimps are kinda sharp so I'm always trying to hide them under beads with bigger holes.

Thank you so much for this video. I'm just starting out, and so far, have only made stretchy braclets. I would like to try something like what you're showing. Does crimping mean that you are smashing the bead? I'm trying to see what you're doing, and it appears that you are. Am I correct? Thank you so much!
@mom3pookies12 жыл бұрын
If I understand what you're asking.spacing is done 1/2' from clasp then 1 1/2' between beads.The pattern is crimp bead, bead, crimp bead.When all the beads are attached you go back and attach crimp bead covers.Hope this helps.

Thanks for explaining this so clearly. My first effort was a three strand tourmaline small nugget necklace on monofilament wire and I turned the air blue swearing all afternoon. If you're using monofilament use the teeny 1mm crimps specially for positional crimping or the things will shift and you'll end up swearing like I did! And of course try something less ambitious first!!

Hello, I have one question: won't the crimp beads we have used damage the fabric of the cloth, the fishing line of the necklace, or our skin? Thanks for your answer in advance, and sharing your knowledge with us. ☺

Hi I would like to thank you... I thought you did a great job... the entire pic. was in the range of your camera and I heard it all... I have my lap top set up to the older speakers in the living room, so the sound was fine... I would like to offer you a suggestion. There is a pen that is purple, (I got mine at Joannes) you could put little marks where the beads belong... it fades with in an hour or so... thanks again... good job.

That's beautiful and effortless to make. Can I add seed beads to make it more colorful in between?
@CatFoxDesigns11 жыл бұрын
Sure, you could add seed beads. However, the purpose of this necklace is to make the beads look like they are "floating" around a person's neck and that's why there's spaces around each bead and the crimps are used to hold the beads in place. Instead of using crimps to hold the large beads in place, you could string on seed beads in between each large bead and make lovely necklace that way. So the seed beads are basically used as spacers then. :)

Oh ok thank you. Well I don't show my neck because I'm covered that's why I asked if I could put seed beads in between. I have another question, where can I buy good affordable pliers? And can I buy one plyer for most of my work, because I'm only a beginner and I really don't want to spend so much money I just want to learn the basics then I want to be able to do everything else :-) Thank you so much I love your videos can't wait to start making my own jewelry.

***** I'm not sure if I replied to this comment or not---KZbin can be a bit annoying with how they handle comments! SO, to answer your question about affordable pliers...check out Joann's. That's where I purchased my first pliers set. I think they are about $15 now for a decent set of pliers. Crimping pliers you'd have to buy separately---any crimping pliers would do. I got mine for $12 from Fire Mountain Gems, but Joann's should have them. I also bought a nicer set of pliers from Amazon recently for $30. I'd check out Amazon, too, esp. if you have Prime. :) You can buy pliers separately, sure, but it's more expensive that way. I'd just go out and find the cheapest pliers set you can find right now...AND you don't absolutely need crimping pliers to start out with--you can just use flat-nose pliers to flatten the crimp bead. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I'm also new to beading and I love this video it's straight to the point and like how you explain the size of the crimps and covers as I'm never sure of the sizes to use. Could you put crimp covers on the crimps next to the beads? I also like this video for that fact that there is no annoying cheesy music going on.
@CatFoxDesigns10 жыл бұрын
Sure, you could use crimp covers next to the beads. I was actually thinking of making an updated video with this floating illusion necklace idea and putting crimp covers over the crimps near the beads. Have you seen some of my latest videos? Is the music annoying with those? Always love to hear feedback on improving the quality of my videos! Thanks for your comment!

Beautiful Necklace. Great Job! I have a question do you have to use a crimp bead and clam shell bead tip or can you just use a crimp tube and a jump ring? The beads 5 mm x 12 mm i put that size into google and it don't come up.? Am i doing something wrong. Thank you.
