I have a lot of old pillows that I never use that have become a eye sore. I haven't done anything with them because it seems so wasteful to just throw them away. I've been thinking of cannibalizing them for projects but that's a lot of stuffing to use and it's perused so I wasn't comfortable using it for stuffed animals. This project looks perfect for it. Thank you!

HOWDY--I just finished 2 of these in Texas A&M collegiate fabric yesterday and had my daughter and her boyfriend stuff. One pillow i had put a zipper in it and the other I hand stitched as in your tutorial I recommend a zipper for those that my have arthritis or difficulty hand stitching this pillow closed. Trying to squeeze the opening closed was trying to fit a size 10 body in a pair of size 8 jeans. You could not pin or clip to hold in place and even my hands got crampy. The zipper made a beautiful finish and when i have to unstitch my daughter's boyfriends pillow to wash after pulling out the stuffing I will add grommets and a shoe lace to close! Wanted to share a few ideas and suggestions. As always love our tutorials!! Thank you :)

What's the bottom dimension (in inches, cm, whatever) on the triangles? Mine look smaller than yours and my setting it at 100%. I've had to rip things out twice and really don't want to have to rip a third time. Knowing that bottom measurement would be helpful. Can't wait to get it right! Great video!
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 5 жыл бұрын
We know what you mean about wanting to do it properly! We're the same way. It's kind of an odd measurement because of the differing seam allowances, but the bottom part of the triangle should measure approx. 11.1546 in Let me know if that helps! - Morgan

When making the floor pouf I stitched the first end piece (hexagon) to the side piece. When I got to the last section I had 5" too long on the side piece. Any suggestions?
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 8 жыл бұрын
+Cheryl Rich our suggestion would be to cu of any excess. The excess could be caused by a number of things but shouldn't be an issue with the rest of the construction if you cut the excess and leave enough for the whip-stitch closure.

Based on the prices on our site, a six fat quarter set and a yard of fabric totals about $28 . I've attempted to make this twice. Any suggestions for getting things to line up properly? My triangle pattern printed out properly, however, when sewing them together, there are never perfect points, even if I start at the middle. Things don't line up when sewing to the side pieces. I actually run out of fabric on the side pieces. I end up with puckers from folding the triangles to make them fit. I really want this to come out right. Its disheartening to spend time on it, only for it to not come together.
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 7 жыл бұрын
So sorry that your pieces aren't coming out right - definitely frustrating. Triangles are tricky because any little thing can change how they turn out. One suggestion would be to trim the edges to all match once you have everything together and adjust accordingly. That way if you have some the are a little shorter than others you can trim them all to match and start with a perfect hexagon. This will change measurements of the outside of the pouf slightly, but it will be an easy trim :) Hopefully that helps a bit!!

also Jennifer another question for ya: when you do the side seams a zipper could be placed there could it not? I was going to give this a gift to a older man and he would ask me "how do i wash it" like he always does when I make him stuff. its possible isn't it?
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 6 жыл бұрын
You could definitely do a zipper! If you are looking to make a removeable cover, we would recommend making a "form" from muslin and then making the decorative cover using pretty fabrics. That way you do have to un-stuff and re-stuff your pouf every time you want to wash it :)

@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carol! it could be how the printer printed the pattern (sometimes printers will scale the size back) and it can also come down to taping it together and losing a half inch or so in the cutting/taping/stitching process. You can try to enlarge the pattern when it prints to see if this helps you sew a larger poof next time. - Morgan

Hello, Jen! I just did the puff, but I had a small problem: after cuting all the pieces EXACTLY as mentioned on the pattern, my triangles were much smaller than yours and, obviously, the side piece was way to big. Maybe, I should increase the pattern for the triangles? Or, what size are your triangles? Thank you for the turorial and for your answer, I just discovered you and I LOVE what you do :) Greetings from France!

Jennifer +shabbyfabrics auto generated captions are rarely accurate. if the audio is not 100% clear and the person does not talk 100% clear with perfect annunciation and no accent and talks to slow or too fast, the captions will not be accurate. they sometikes will say completely ridiculous things like "i will take this to the sewing machine" will say "i will date is do the so we um keen" (yes sometimes auto generated captions say complete giberish) just to let you know
