Yet again! Very informative and ingenious! Every one of your videos is worth watching, even if I have no intention of making anything....You're doing a fine job! An absolute pleasure to watch!

I was last season , too , .....just joined a new fishing club where I can access a few river stretches holding seatrout and even salmon , ......tried a few times with homemade weight-forward spinners , but haven't been lucky so far , ...it's rather a matter of "right time, right place" ! Well , ...maybe this year ? Good luck , .....cheers , Dieter

Just wanted to say thanks for the video. I fish a lot of seatrout in the spring( northern Sweden) when they return from the ocean and go up river. Saw someone use one of these spinners last spring and thought it looked interesting. Nice to find a video describing how to make one from scratch. Didn't want to buy a ready made kit.

I test wire work usually with the lure attached to a bench and a bar through the hook and then jerk like made using my body weight. This kind of testing is far outside what any fight i have had with fish has produced. When things fail for me it tends to go in this order,The knots, line, hook, trace, rod, reel and then lastly the wire. The main weaknesses in this lure are the hook and the wire twisted around the eye. The force in a fight should be transferred directly between eyes. Thanks Paul

i buy these weights at my local tackle shop they are £1 for 5. These are lead free because in the uk you can not sell lead fishing weights below 1oz. cheers

Do you think you could use 3 or 4 small round lead weights in line in place of the body , if you weren't able to find them. It would alter the body shape a bit but should still be ok. What do you think.? PS I love the way you make your own Clevis hooks.

Hello Mr Adams :) I really love your videos. It sure has given my luremaking a kick-start! Keep it up. Now for my question, i have been looking all over for a drilled weight like the one you use in the video... seems hard to find the right shape. Where do you buy yours from? And also, approximately... how much does the weight you use here weight? Again thanks for some great educating clips. Cheers Tommy

I put the blade in a spoon and place another spoon on top and give the lot one hard thump with a stick of wood and hammer. Gives a very smooth, even concave.

If you use a hole punch for leather to punch a small hole at the head of your tail cut then it will prevent tearing of the rubber or silicone, instead of just cutting out a v notch. The body material will last a lot longer.

Hello, I was wondering if you could reupload somewhere and link to that spinner blade template you were talking about please?; the blog's link from scribbd was unavailable to view/download. That would be awesome and handy since I've just gotten into making homemade lures. My first lure was 99% scrap-built, a folded heineken bottlecap rattler on an old guitar string shaft with a teeniebopper yellow shoestring rooster tail and a soda can bottom spinner blade! Also, what would you say your strike/cast ratio for the Flying C has been for you? Also also, does that shrink wrap come in other colors? I think a dayglo yellow one with black sharpie dots would work swell here in New York.
@PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman8 жыл бұрын
email paulpadam@aol.com i will send the pdf's , i have no idea about the the flying c ratios it has been a while since i have used them , shrink tubing come in a range of colours, but you can also buy silicone tubing as well, thanks
