After almost a year of giving my husband pandemic haircuts, I feel fairly confident that I may be able to tackle topiary pruning!

Hi Jim. I just enjoy watching how others limbed up evergreens easily. This gives me the confidence to try out in my own landscape. TY. ❤

I'm looking at plants and shrubs in a whole new way now since you've been showing their potential and the different ways to use them. They add so much more interest to our gardens and give us so many more choices when we turn them into topiaries. And it's so quick and easy looking.

I love that threadleaf Chamaecyparis can be pruned to resemble dissected Japanese Maples. You then get the form and texture of a Japanese Maple, but the green is persistent the entire season. Thanks Jim for another awesome video.

How nice to run across your video. Just this morning I trimmed my humongous Gold Mop. I did not know how it was going to end when I started. How about more like a Topiary! 😆lol I cut off a lot more then 1/3 so I'm hoping it thrives. It looks a lot more appealing. Thx for sharing!

I love weeping willows but my parents experienced how bad the roots are to a septic field growing up-so ill never plant one. Wirh that being said, this has a mini willow look to it in topiary form! I absolutely love it! Thanks Mr. Jim!

Interesting project, Jim! I have been shying away from gold mop because neighbors have special mature specimens that are just HUGE and I didn’t want anything like that blocking my house or windows etc. The fact that it can be given a haircut is illuminating - great to see additional options for containers (apart from basic arborvitae).

Jim, save those prunings, Gold Mop stays pretty a LONG time. One of my favorites for holiday live arrangements. In wet foam, they'll last a month. Add some pine, a little Cryptomeria, some Holly with berries, a Nandina top for the center, Juniper around the sides & boom, you have an arrangement better than you could buy!

Yes, I used to cut some and sell it to the wreath makers at the State Farmer's Market in Raleigh

Looks great, Jim. I love the carex and have two with a pieris and heuchera. They’re doing great in a pot in a shady corner. But I have some heucheras in the ground that are looking sad. They were fine all summer but they seem to be losing they’re leaves now and I’m in 7b. I don’t remember them looking this bad last year. Not sure why that is. Any ideas?
