Nano Modules are amazing! ALT is my favorite VCA so far, I sold all my other VCA when I discovered it and I have 6 units currently! Also loving ONA oscillator, it sounds like no other 3340 VCO! As you said, filters are really personal since they are adding a particular character to the sound. I really like FONT because it's really clean and I use it a lot with more aggressive sound sources like DPO because it rounds the sound a lot. Amazing video as usual!

Just the sort of content I like to see. Suitable for beginners BUT it’s widely useful because you’re going over BASICS, not introductory ideas. Lots of us benefit from thinking through these patches under your guidance. I also must mention how pretty that stand-alone synth is. I don’t normally even prefer dark panels, but it’s beautiful. Richly functional as well. Kudos to Nano.

Glad you like it! I'm working on a video idea with LOTS of patches, so there's more to come! Think it's a beauty to. I have to admit I would in general advise people who go modular to buy a bigger case, as expanding from a synth voice in modular is worth it in my opinion, but I have more plans with this system and it's very easy on the camera indeed :)

Hello, First of all, your video helped me to simplify my first steps and choices with eurorack. This config seems both basic and moooore than enough for my first steps into modular. Your explanations are clear and your exemples sound good and musical to my ears. Really happy that I found your channel! I have a question though : for the output audio to a mix table, is alt ok and enough? Or could it be a plus if i added a 2HP vca? Cheers!
@MonotrailTechTalk Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for the kind words, glad it helped out! Any kind of module that can reduce the strength of a signal is good enough to go safe from modular to mixer. I highly recommend ALT. VCAs are a really fun part of exploring sound and modulation, so it's worth it to have a few right from the start. Using one channel for volume control is enough, no need to add another VCA behind it.
@sophiestellakis Жыл бұрын
@@MonotrailTechTalk thank you very much for your answer! So I understand that ALT is enough for reducing the signal to a mixer. I was just wandering, because there is a 2HP space left in that config, if another VCA could open to more possibilities or if it is not really useful. But as I often read « VCA, you never have enough of them », I wanted to know, in that config, would it be a useful module to add?
@MonotrailTechTalk Жыл бұрын
Because Alt is a quad VCA, id say wait a bit with filling the 2hp. There are lots of options! For example: Because this setup has 2 oscillators, two mixers, lots of modulation and VCAs . If you ad a 2hp filter you could make 2 complete synth voices. Lot's of fun with the korg SQ-1 I use. Other things like a noise or random/sample & hold would also be great!

When you patch some of the more complicated setups, do you have a distinct sound/effect in mind for all modulations? Or do you start adding modulation without a clear end goal and then tweak/adjust settings to find sweet spots?
@MonotrailTechTalk Жыл бұрын
Hello! From a lot of sounds I have a goal. For example pathing pulse width, FM, or audio rate modulation to a filter give me predictable results, I've done that so many times :) But at the same time I enjoy just patching things to see how far I can push something or in an attempt to make something self generative, that's definitely not always predictable, and mostly comes down to listening and tweaking until it sounds right. Or time to start over :)
@kbowman0016 Жыл бұрын
Awesome video. Quick question: during the Audio mixing section (13:55) on the chart, you show the second VCO going into the mixer, but in the live example, there is a patch cable going into its 1v/oct which isn't shown on the graphic. Is that cv from another sequencer, or is it a copy of the cv going into the 1/oct of the first VCO?
@MonotrailTechTalk Жыл бұрын
Thanks! And good catch, that's a mistake on my side, indeed the same 1v/oct signal should go to both oscillators. You can see the CV leaving the Korg with a yellow stackable cable + a regular white cable, one to each osc :)

Great vídeo Mate as always....can i Add To This small System another oscillator like a Erica Bassline ? Or i need another modules configuratiions? Thanks mate🔥🙏👊😉
@MonotrailTechTalk Жыл бұрын
Hello! The great thing about a synth voice that is a true modular, is that you can expand any way you like! All these elements are flexible forever. I would recommend a bigger case to people who are starting out. But yes. You can mix in any oscillator to create a three osc setup. Or use a mixer to mix voices together, as the bassline is a voice on its own. In any case you could use the modulation modules to modulate anything you like, and so on :)

Can you show us what it looks inside that Moog case, love those cases but the power supply is not sufficient, which one are you using that can power those modules nicely. Thank You.
@MonotrailTechTalk Жыл бұрын
Hello! Might make a picture for my insta some time. I use an old 4hp synthrotek PWR module. But any module will do, as long as it has a flat faceplate. This one was extra suitable because it has the input bolted, as you can see in the one shot on the video. So the module is just bolted into the case with the bolt of the module. I did another case with a Behringer power module, and decided to cut that up and just glue that to a custom side panel.

So where does the gate for a keystep go so i can play notes ??
@MonotrailTechTalk8 ай бұрын
Haha, not sure if you are serious or having fun. But just in case: Have a close look at the patch on 3:50. You can just replace the sequencer in that patch with a keystep. The pitch/1v-oct of the keystep goes to the 1v/oct of the oscillator. And the Gate of the keystep goes to the gate/trigger input of the envelope.
