For those having trouble getting it to close by going up. change the first gearbox so it pushes the piston 2m instead of 1 as its final step. this fixed it for me. also using glue instead of linear chassis will prevent things from sticking to the floor and being dragged with it.

If this does not work for you, here are possible problems and fixes 1.If you sped up the shafts, the place will break. It works perfectly on 16 rpm. If you do want to speed it up, you need to put the redstone contact further away, another option is to add more delay to the redstone repeater. 2.Do NOT spam the activation buttons before everything stops. If you press the button before the gantry shift finishes its way, it will break. To fix this, reset your sequenced gearshifts, gantry shift and piston. Hope this helps

For anyone having issues and saying it doesn't work. Just tested on.1.18.2 forge. Java edition. I can guarantee you it does. HOWEVER, I also had issues until I really paid attention to the video. You HAVE to make sure that the red lights on all the sequenced gear boxes are off! These lights represent the stage that the sequence is in. I.E. if you have 4 steps. You will have 1 light for the first stage 2 lights for the secon. Etc... I paired mine with security crafts keypad block with a Redstone link on the side and it all works perfectly! @@Zurgified while building it. He tested it multiple times. But after the test notice the video jump cuts and all the previously lit up sequenced gearboxes are completely dark again. He reset them before continuing the build. However he never stated this or showed it. For the Piston part you need to break the Redstone repeater leading into the Redstone contact Put a button on the sequenced gearbox and click it till the red lights go off again. On the gantry shaft assembly just attach a button to the sequenced gear box and click till its also completely dark. Then break both buttons and and place the Redstone links. The keypad block was the triggering mechanism I used to trigger the other Redstone links. I did this by using the security craft mod. Placing a keypad block and a Redstone link on the side as the signal transmitter and the corresponding Redstone links on both (or all three in my case as I have edited the build to also have a rising elevator) this also eliminates the need to press a button twice to get the mechanism moving. And before you say "you edited the build" I did so in a way that had no effect on the original design. I just simply added a non attached extra part.

I've been following your video piece by piece and my gantry carriage just won't move anymore once it hits the other end of the shafts I've tried everything removing blocks around it and all but it just doesn't move help. Edit 1: Once i attach everything it stops moving on side of the 2nd sequenced gearshift Edit 2: If i put a block on top of the sticky chassis the carriage will only go back but not forth

Sorry for the late reply, yes this can be done with.a vertical gearbox ,gantry carriage, gantry shafts, water wheel, wheel shaft, and a sequenced gearbox. Just make sure to offset the times and delays. Otherwise they will collide and break.

This is old so i doubt ill get an answer. But can someone explain how exactly this works? I get the concept. But what im struggling to understand is why does the piston not instantly extend after the retraction? You hit the button to start it. From there it needs two redstone signals to retract. It gets one when the two contacts connect after pressing the button. And then it gets the second one from the button press?? So it should in theory trigger instantly as soon as you hit the button to retract it. Im glad it works but i cant use this principle to build other things if i don't understand how it works

i got the door to work but i ran into a problem. When ever the floor goes back into position, it takes the blocks above the door. Not the blocks on the Linear Chassis, the blocks on top of those blocks. Does anyone know why that is and what to do?

Its actually the chassis, because you need to use a wrench and hold Ctrl, then look at the chassis, until you see the number 8, then scroll down till one.

Just put the piston extensions you need and reverse the direction. Then make the surface you want flush the default position I.E. if you want it to elevate 14 but you have 16 Piston shafts, where it says Piston "ms #" replace the # minus two because your floor would be at 2 not 0.....I really hope that made since.
