I don't have anywhere else to ask this so... does it hurt to get a bonded palatal expander removed? I've got one and I keep seeing videos of expander removals but only the other type!

Yes. It helps keep the appliance firmly in place during expansion otherwise it would constantly fall out and cause many unwanted emergency appointments

Could this style be modified so that the outer end could be clasped/clipped onto brace brackets that are minus the brace wire? Possibly with something like elastics.

Great video! One of wires that feeds into the holes of the palate expander on mine needs to be bent for it to fit better. I tried using pliers without much luck. What would you suggest?

Go see your Dr asap. They have special pliers that can manipulate wire exactly into place. The longer you wait the more chance of doing some damage

Hi, I know this is a long shot, but lve been doing lots of research on nasal breathing as I personally am a mouth breather and it is really effecting my health, I've heard that getting your pallet widened can benefit your airway function and also make it easier to breathe through your nose, I live in Ireland and I cannot find any doctor who offers this treatment to adults, as in Ireland we are generally 10 years behind the most up to date medical practices. My question is would it be possible for someone to buy the parts for this device and assemble it themselves? I am experienced with tools and would be able to complete all the steps in this video, but my only problem is I don't know where to get a cast of my teeth, and I don't know where to buy the parts, I would massively appreciate any help you feel you can give me as it might end a struggle I've been dealing with for years. Please think about helping me
@SzaraDentalLab3 жыл бұрын
I highly recommend you don't try to make this yourself. I've personally never heard of anyone benefiting from expanding palate. Besides palatal expanders are used primarily in patients between ages 7 to 14. Sift tissue in palate is very easy to split and expand. Suture is not hard like it is in adults. It would hurt like all hell! I highly recommend you look into removable sleep apnea appliances. The idea is to move your lower jaw forward aiding in opening up airway. This would definitely help with your breathing issues. Check around any neighboring countries and they will be able to make one for you. Germany and Italt would be best bet. They are advanced in technology. All you would need is a dental scan taken from most general dentist. Do Not try to do this without a professional! You could end up doing much more harm than good! Good Luck
@innerverse9493 Жыл бұрын
I believe what your thinking of is a procedure that pushes your maxillae bones forward instead of apart (which is what this hyrax does). You would have to buy an orthodontic reverse pull headgear and then modify the expander in the video to have hooks so that rubber bands can then be attached to the head gear and then to the modified hyrax. this will slowly pull your upper jaw forward and fix the mouth breather face. as for dental molds, there are kits online you can buy that may ship to Ireland. if any of this is done incorrectly, though, you can cause your own teeth to become crooked (from too much dentoalveolar change) or create an overbite.
