here in Mexico we have something similar. it´s called "alambre" and it has a lot more of stuff like ham, onion, mushrooms, pastor beef and a lot of cheese but definetly the philly cheese steak it´s kind of unic.

I know, with bacon between $5 and $7/pound even if I didn't put it on the sandwich (and bacon can be good on a cheesesteak) I'd certainly use it in some recipe or eat it for breakfast or put it on a burger or something.

It's called a Philly CHEESE steak, the main ingredient is cheese and steak, you gotta really go all in on the cheese or it just isn't right. This looked phenomenal dude.

im from philly and green peppers isnt really a thing, thats just what the commercialized people put in it, u need caramelized onions, an straight american cheese, some do provolone too(also some choose to put cheese whizz on top) note: yours looks delicious, no hating, and mixing the bacon flavor in sounds amazing and mayo is the way to go! but to each their own

I'm a philly fanatic. I make several times a month for the family and will eat everywhere that offers one, just to see all the differences. Good job on this one. Only feedback if not offended would be to slow down the cooking of the meat. I find low and slow for the thin meat creates the juiciest philly (not greasy), plus this let's the peppers and onions marinade more with the meat and gets the flavors packed throughout. Love the blue rhino. I have a StealMade plate that covers my whole kitchen stove. It awesome. Thank you for sharing!!!!

Philadelphia has really made its local delicacy famous around the world. I definitely have to try one some time, but when I do, I'd prefer to have it in proper style at its birthplace in the great city of Philadelphia. Greetings from germany. (this whole clip is very American to me btw. a relaxed cool guy having an oversized grille with a cooking plate on top in his garage making a bbq in what a appears to be a nice house in a clean and nice neighborhood with a Muscle car and an SUV in the driveway) :)

I use vidalia onion sliced supper thin, only 1 sweet pepper (small diced) for the flavor since hubby can't do peppers, shaved steak and fresh sliced white american on home made italian bread. The onion and pepper I cook with bacon grease til tender, top with the shaved steak and cover for a min just til I don't see pink, then I'll do a quick chop; top with american cheese til it's gooey and then cover with the bread, let sit for just a min then flip over and serve adding more cheese on top . I'm a NY'er so I like to add just a tiny bit of A1

Like that flat top grill. I always said to my friends, if you're grilling with gas, what's the point you're not getting that charcole or hickory or mesquite smell out of it. And you're losing all your drippings through the grate. But that griddle setup... damn, I could DEFINITELY get on board with that. That's fucking great. Way better than a gas grill. Throw burgers on there, steaks, dogs, and you're keeping all the juices!

After several attempts, I make my own "special oil," by rendering pork fat, then I add Better than Bouillon brand, roasted beef base and whisk all together in a small sauce pan over low heat and set aside. The pork fat is straight up Chicharrons' I buy at the Mexican market. It gives it that punch you'd expect. Here in Colorado, we have "A Taste of Philly," they have the Amoroso buns and topping it off with Boylans cream soda. Man O Man. I will always try new ways and your recipe will be my next dish for the fam.

Grew up in Philly. Instead of hassling you about how "real" cheesesteaks are made I'm just gonna say good job, you got it basically right, way better than most folks, and offer a tip to take it to another level. Since you like provolone and mozzarella and peppers, try a "pizza steak", and add some pepperoni slices to the meat while it's cooking, optionally some mushrooms, and finish with a little marinara sauce stirred into everything. If you can get that right, it's really something special.

"How not to make a Philly cheesesteak". 1. There are no green peppers in a cheese steak. 2. There is no bacon in a cheese steak. 3. You need to chop your steak more. The finer you chop it the softer and better the sandwich is. 4. Your meat looks all gnarled up, this is because your butcher didn't freeze the meat and then slice it thin. It's easier to slice the meat thin when it's frozen. Your meat is going to be chewy this way. 5. You don't toast your bread. 6. You're supposed to place your bread upside down on top of your meat piles and then take your spatula underneath the meat pile and flip it up and over. 7. Put mayo on the bun before you put the meat on. 8. No mozzarella on a cheesesteak - only American, provolone, or cheese wiz. 9. The only thing you really got right was how you put the provolone on top of the meat pile. I think millions of people from Philly are in agony right now. Google a video of Philly cheesesteak places.

We watch ours get made so we know what goes on it and how it's made so we can kinda judge, but not gon lie tho he is close tho.. What he said was key.. It's about how you like it, but you kinda can't call it a PHILLY cheesesteak if it's not done like it's done in Philly that made and gave it it's name.. It's iconic and other places borrow our name, but when Philly people travel, stop and order a "philly cheesesteak", we leave disappointed.. Just call it a cheesesteak if its not original, and yes you are definitely correct he do got the game chopped.. I ain't see no salt or pepper drop on that joint😒 in the way

Okay, so all the comments about him feeding the bacon to his dog. Why y'all hatin' on the dog? That just tells me that this guy really loves his dog. Besides, (And no offense) I would want that bacon cooked a little more crispy if I was going to eat it. Now, I'll say, interesting choice with the cheese. I typically just use white American cheese sliced from the deli. I have used mozzarella when I didn't have anything else. Never used provolone on a cheese steak, even thought it's one of my favorite cheeses. Probably would say it IS my favorite. Good idea with adding the butter before toasting the rolls. Good video.... informative. I made these today. I added some garlic salt and black pepper to the meat, and left out the bacon. They were delicious. Thank you! You really have to be careful to not overcook the meat!! Nice grill griddle. :)

Great video, only suggestion I would make is scooping out center of each roll, this creates more space for steak, and adds to flavor. Thats how they do it in Philly.

Born and raised in South Philly cuzzzz. He used the rite meat. The bread looks on point but not an authentic cheese steak by far. The authentic is ordered with or without onions. When ordering you would say “wit” or “wit out”. Then you would tell them what type of cheese. American, provolone or cheese wiz. Peppers are never cooked into the steak always put on after. If you go to Pat’s, Gino’s or Phil’s steaks in Philly you would see that stuff outside on the side. Not sure about the bacon grease or the buttered roll but you like what you like. It looked very good I must say regardless. I like American no onions extra cheese and the wife likes no onions extra cheese wizzzz! We are in vegas now and still on the hunt for the perfect cheese steak with no luck.

Kali Southpaw that place is crap. That was the first place we tried. They use minute steak (frozen) but the guy said it was from Philly....😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 That was a joke. The bread they get from Amaroso’s in philly but it’s frozen then defrosted. Its flaky and tasted like nothing. We took two bits and left it there. We are still on the hunt.

U r right on everything except no cheese whiz that's not Philly even though Geno's, Pat's, and Tony Luke does it all. That is not a good Philly cheesesteak with cheese whiz.

Merry Christmas Clay! I just subbed to your channel from Patty Adams with the G Team. I was looking for a Philly cheese steak recipe earlier and Woop Here it is! Lol I really really really really really need a grill like yours! What is it called? I used to be a Deli cook and used that type of grill but IDK what it's called besides a grill. Lol I love it. And I used to use a little steamer thing with a lever you pulled down to make it steam the buns. I always wanted both. Anyway that looks so good I could crawl into my phone to eat it! Lol

Don’t let any of these people tell you the proper way to make a philly when The flipping the bread, the toppings, the mixing the cheese. It’s all preference and philly fanatics get upset when you don’t like their specific type.

it's called a PHILLY cheesesteak for a reason. It's fine if you make it differently but don't call it a Philly cheesesteak if you're making it to your own liking.
