I never had a Barbie doll; however, my daughter had many of them (and still does). Sheila is 50 years old now. I have a panel with eagles on it. This may be a good way to put a finish on it ( so it can be quilted). However, it will take a while to figger out what prints to use with it. I love your pets and that cute little girl. I saw a log cabin quilt top (in a magizine years ago) that was just one huge block. It was called "Say When." I tool a class where we sewed all our 2 1/2 inch strips into one long string. That class was called "The Quilt Race." It looked like you combined both methods to make your Barbie Quilt top. Almost any little girl will live that quilt. Good luck in keeping it for yourself.

Love your style of quilting.I will be watching more of your videos. I wanted to share with you where I have been purchasing some of my fabric. They are on KZbin and they have a Saturday destash. All of their fabric on this weekly show (Saturday Only) sells at approximately 6.00 a yard. They do have precuts on this night that range from 10.00 to 30.00. They are called the Sew Yeah Brothers. Their shop is located in Las Vegas. They do have a New Stash on Tuesday nights where the newer lines of fabrics are sold at quilt shop prices. I appreciate you making others comfortable using lower priced fabric & or fabrics that they can afford. Thank You !!!

You don't need a jelly roll. You just need coordinating fabric, a ruler and a rotary cutter/scissors. Just cut approximately 30 strips at 2 1/2" of the coordinating fabric and use that around your panel. You can adjust the number of strips based on how big you want your quilt. 😁 April

Make her a matching pillow out of the extra strips. My local quilt shop (Sew Yeah in Las Vegas) is doing a quilt drive to take quilts up to Alaska to a men's shelter. I bought a panel with a beautiful bear on it for a start but didn't know what else I would do to make it larger and finish it off. Now I do! I'm going to buy yardage of their bargain cave fabrics that go with it and make my own strips. I know they have several that have birch trees on it. Thanks for the idea.

That is wonderful. I just found Sew Yea on KZbin - those guys are great. I need to finish a lot of my quilt tops and I want to donate them as well. I'm glad you can use this technique for such a wonderful cause. Thank you for watching. April

Lovely quilt I’ve never made a quilt but I’ve watched numerous how to videos. They all seem very regimented which doesn’t inspire me AT all Your videos however make me feel I wanna give it a go! Although I might just do some place mats first and work up to a quilt Still loving your bloopers they make me chuckle 🤪

You can do anything you put your mind to. Placemats are an excellent way to start and you get table decorations. 😀 April

A really neat idea! I usually add a wider strip or border to the sides of a panel than I add to the top so the quilt doesn’t look way long. Love Barbie but since my older sister had Barbie, I had Midge! Best summers were playing Barbie with my sister-and I still have all of them! My grandma sewed up outfits and my mom crocheted outfits! Great memories! Glad I’m not the only one who buys panels/fabrics and months or years later can’t remember exactly what the idea was!! LOL! Your bloopers are the best to stay tuned for!! As always, enjoyed watching your video! Great job! Thank you!

I like your idea of doing the steps like that around a panel. I have bought several panels, but a few of them are horizontal that I would like to use as bed quilts and I haven't really found good patterns for that layout. Can you do a video using a horizontal panel?

@@aprilscraftroom do you have easy qayg with and without sash techniques? These take so long and the one I’m doing is a mess. Makes me not want to quilt anymore. I was trying to save money and not go to long armer, but next time I will. Qayg is very much more time consuming. Thanks! The panel one I doing like this, is going to long armer.

@@glendahargrave417 I have a qayg video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p57Zk3-Lipp_i6s. I didn't use sashing because that seems a little tedious to me and I am not a very patient person. I connected my blocks after quilting strips to batting, and then put a full backing on and straight line quilted from the front. You can see how I did the straight line quilting here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZvbh6GCqNeUl9E. I don't really show how I added the backing, but it was just like you would add a backing to a regular quilt top, but the batting is already there. Let me know if you have any questions. :-) April
