Ok here’s a better way. Put a square of foil with the print on it in a Zip lock snack bag. Or a partial print for a partial syringe if u only need to inoculate a couple of cakes. Manipulate the snack bag to get the print into a bottom corner. Now with your syringe of sterile, distilled water, inject a few cc’s into the bag so it runs down into the corner with the print. Rub the print from outside the bag to get the spores into the water. Now draw the spore water into the syringe and you’re done. You don’t need a still air box. I’ve had lots of success with this method.

Take a second spore print from the same mushroom and use that, It will be way cleaner than the first after any dirty spores are flushed out . Just an extra hint I have heard of that helps stop contam in your grow, good video.

Your videos are excellent and have helped immensely. Something that people ought to know though - this can be done without a still air box or laminar flowhood. A small room can be turned into a giant still air box. We use the spare bedroom in our house. We turn off the heat/AC, and run a clean air purifier for one hour prior to making the syringe. We sterilize the working surface, and all equipment used. We wear a hospital mask, and use new, sterilized syringes, clean gloves that are sterilized with alcohol. We also use tons of Lysol, or similar products to clean the air in the room prior to working. The room stays clean, we don't keep much in it and dust prior to set up of the air purifier and the entire process of making the syringe. so far we've had excellent results, and almost no contamination. Last round of eight grain jars, we only lost two, and the contamination probably came from something other than the syringes.

here's several things you can try pick the top variety - there are lots available. grow them in the best conditions - some such as oyster muchrooms like cool humid conditions and can be placed outdoors (I learned these and the reasons they work from gregs mushroom grower site )

PGT: LOVE your videos!!!! Have you discussed how to create and store spore prints? I am sure it is easy to do, but it would be nice to get a rundown on how to do it and any pitfalls.

Remove the stipe (stem) from the cap of a mature mushroom & place gill/pore/spine side down on a clean collection unit (parchment paper/foil/Petri dish.) Let it sit undisturbed for a while. It will be obvious when you lift up the cap if you've been successful or not. If damp, let excess moisture evaporate then cover dish or fold up paper/foil & seal in a Ziploc bag. Store out of direct sunlight.
