You can buy this tool on amazon for like $6, or a kit of 12 different adjustment tools for like $12

Great video that was my 1st thought although I didn't know that it was 4 mm on the inside. I ended up taking a but connector stripping the plastic off of it shoving it down over that 4 mm and turning it with a pair of needle nose super quick super easy done

The later blowers have an octagonal head just to make things that much more difficult. It’s not about emissions. It’s about the shop making money on services by not selling that weird 8 sided socket to the public. It’s available on eBay for $20. For me in Australia, it’s $50 with postage. Nice one, Stihl. Great way to foster relations with your buyers

I bought that 10 piece tool kit that was supposedly compatible with my 2020 Stihl BG86 blower,but none of the tools fit,so I ended up sending the kit back to Amazon.My screws looked like some sort of hex,but the 4mm hex in the kit did not fit(too small),so I have a 4.5mm and 5mm on order,hoping one of those will fit.

Turns out the 4mm hex was not the right tool..I need a 8 sided (octagonal) tool.My screw heads are octagonal shaped. I guess they changed head shapes again for 2020?!

Cool fix. Yea hated that special tool crap when I worked at the Lincoln and mercury dealership its a game to keep you bringing it back to the dealership. Manipulated alot of tools over the years to get by.

I have a STIHL FS 94R weed trimmer. I tried to buy a high/ low adjustment driver from a STIHL parts dealer, they told me the EPA only allows them to buy 2 a year, so they can't sell them. Sounded like bull to me

I just came across this video. FYI, this is not Stihl's fault. It's EPA regulations. If you buy a tool from a third party, fine. If I, as a Stihl Dealer, sell you one, there is a potential $3800 fine if caught. And yes, customers WILL rat their dealers out.

I told a stihl rep I was going to a new company. Excuse of this and he told me to grind down my own tool.

I wanted to take the cover off my weed eater and I could not because of the shaft connector that blocks the casing from coming off. They put a hex bolt straight way down in the end of the shaft sticking out of the engine. Just take the shaft off the front of your weed eater and then look at the piece that is still left on the engine, there should be a squarish knob that slides onto the shaft connection to make it spin. Example of another way to make money for companies

At least this squarish looking knob was the way it was designed on my troy bilt weed eater, and oh yeah now I have to use hemostats on my carb screws because they are so puny and of course they decided to do that weird circle of metal around it so nothing but the tool they want you to buy fits. Anyways thanks for the tips, I don't own a grinder

They don't want you to adjust the carb because they want you to drop your equipment off at the stihl dealer and pay $50 to have some guy who doesn't know what he's doing adjust it for you and wait 3 weeks to get your equipment back.

Stihl dealer told me they will get fined $5k if the sell me that tool. Crazy, right?
