I like your tip of putting the background color down first on the stencil. Makes absolute sense!

Woodworking tip: under where you glue the side pieces to the top, leave an unpainted spot under it so the glue will adhere wood to wood and not all wood to paint if you choose not to use a Brad nailer

I made one of these at shop that hosts wood projects like this. I paid close to 80$ to make this board. I took the knowledge and hope now, after watching your video I've been renewed in my desire to create these for gifts for friends! Thank you so much! Dare I say maybe I could sell some too!!

I had one of these made for me over 5 years ago and I love it. Paid over $50 for it.

The wood prices now would most likely be over 50.00 to buy the materials.

I paid $150 for the one I bought my parents. The wood alone now is $50

I do know that raw wood it’s best to condition it to get a consistent finish. I will try painting as well great job.

If you really want to stain and want it to match wood types, but your budget isn't much bigger than what this costs as done here, veneer is a good option.

No, it was an oval board, white with a beaded edge.

This is so cool. Thank you for sharing. Suggestion, if you are cutting on black material, why don’t you change the mat color to maybe a light gray, that way we can see what you are doing. At the end, the mat color doesn’t matter, but it gives better visual.

So you don't put a top coat over this? Or wax? It seems like it being a stove top cover you would want a top coat in case it gets wet or food on it.

That’s what I was thinking. Maybe like a clear spray paint.
