I was rubbrickin a ledge with my brother and some friends in downtown and an elderly lady reported us to the police because she thought we were digging. The cops were cool about it and didn't seem to care too much as they went about their day.

I've done this before! It works an absolute treat 😁 few notes to add; if you go three or more coats chances are you won't even need wax and that's from experience lol just the wax that scuffs up the bottom of your soul plate is enough to make it feel like butter 👌 also this trick also makes the edge stronger so if a skater soles along with their trucks the most they'll do it crack the lacquer and that can be fixed with another coat. Just don't don't get caught doing this on private property 😂

Great to see this! Cool spot too. It's funny to hear the perspective change from "park is a backup option to skating street" to the opposite. Some notes: -Don't use your rubbrick on the parts of the ledge that are already waxed. Or rather, don't use a nice fresh rubbrick, as it will gum up the brick and make it pretty useless for any part of the ledge. What I do is, as my rubbricks wear down, I demote my worst one to "go over the waxed area" duty. Which still doesn't do a lot, it helps smooth it out a bit, but at least I can save my good bricks for the dry parts of the ledge. -Quick-dry lacquer is pretty cheap and dries in 15-20min, so you can skate it in the same session. - Bondo-Glass is perfect for filling chunks and seams. Not too hard to work with and it's harder and stronger than regular Bondo so it won't flake off, and slides well. -Definitely mask up for the rubbricking. Everyone has masks now for obvious reasons, use them! Silica dust is no joke and will cause health problems later. If I get lung cancer I will unfortunately not be surprised, as I spent about the first 10 years of my rubbrick era not even thinking about masking up. -Don't slack on the rubbricking! Once you wax you can't rubbrick any more, so you only get one chance to get it right. I like to do the length of the brick on top (6" or so), and the width of it (3" or so) on the side, so that if you get too flat on a groove trick and you touch your outer wheels you won't stick as hard, and so your frame won't stick when you get into or out of soul tricks. Otherwise, killing it as always!

Has anyone ever messed around with fiberglass resin? I wonder how well it would fill in gaps and slide
@aldolega3 жыл бұрын
@@ericturner5931 Bondo-Glass is Bondo with fiberglass added to it. So yes. I've been using it for years and have found it to be the best for filling chunks.

I have a spot in mind for this. Getting around to prepping it is the hard part haha.....skate parks in Australia are the same atm. With the lockdown and most schools being shut. parents take there kids to the skate park and let them run wild on there scooters. No etiquette like the old days where you waited for your turn, it's a free for all. One of my skateboard mates absolutely pumped this young kid not so long ago after she followed him up a quarter. She took it like a champ. Didn't even cry but her mum wasn't impressed haha. Shouting and carrying on at my mate.
@dooflexible3 жыл бұрын
we did that back in the dayz. it works! you could use a battery powered grinding disc to smooth things out quicker.. of course it would make a mess, though in remote areas its not a huge deal.
@lulstick6668 Жыл бұрын
I will always acknowledge any positivity in all rolling communities. My only "remark" is at least for skateboarding, the top of the ledge isn't the only thing that is needed to be smooth for grinding. Even the the vertical surface at least 2-4 inches from the top down should be smooth for the baseplate and especially the wheels when nose/tail sliding but everything else is top notch content my friend

Thank you very much for recommending me to “clear coat” / “clear paint” my rail! I just skated it for a little bit and it’s the smoothest it’s ever been. I sanded it so it was clear and shiny and then sprayed with with the clear coat and then waxed. Could maybe use some more wax and it’ll be nearly perfect!

If you can justify it, or if you work in construction and have some, diamond grit sandpaper and a battery powered sander! It kicks the butt out of a rub brick. You can also get varnish in a tub or bottle, which is super useful because sometimes when people hear a spray can they freak out! ....if they see you painting a curb with a brush (especially in a yellow jacket) they assume you are from the city and are just doing work

Hey man, could you make a video. On how to safely go down big steep hills. Also breaking on a hill. the street I live in. The footpath is very small. On top of that no grass. At the end of the hill. Next to it. Is a massive lake. Down at the end of the hill. there is really no time to break. I am really having hard time. I have a pair of USD Aeon. I can't seem to find a video. I really would love your help. ❤️

Just throwing it out there. But for skateboarding you absolutely have to worry about more than the top. Slide tricks like nose slides and tail slides you need wax on the sides because your wheel base locks into the side. If there is no wax on the sides for those tricks you just stop dead in your tracks.
