For those asking for the type of glue, it is Epoxy Acrylic resin (the one that comes in 2 tubes 1 the glue and 2 the accelerator) if you don't apply the accelerator it takes days and even weeks for the glue to set, you can speed the process by using a heat gun, or a hair dryer. Also to make it more liquid and easy to apply you can add few drops of acrylic dissolvent or Toluene. depends on what's available. I don't know if any other glue maybe used or not, I just know that's what the guys where I live use to set the wire as it is resistant to high temperature and has a good electric insulation.

Yea, speaker rebuilds from thr ground up are super niech but needed. I had to learm everything from the ground up so i can rebuild a set of c12's

epoxy is the worst adhesive to use in holding the bobbin on the former, the epoxy will not hold up under heat and stink, you'll need to use a high temperature adhesive in its place if your using this method for a subwoofer

it's not that easy as it seems to be.....winding coils step by step is not easy.....he's an professional that's why he can do so.....I have tried this for car subwoofers....

hard to find paper 'nomex' voice coils usually its that plastic crap and for vintage jbl and Jesens there IS a difference in sound - try doing this with aluminum edge wound found on vintage jbl's d series...good vid tho shows the basics

my issue is the limited gap space i have for the coil. trying to recreate a 1930s voice coil is hard. there's no data on it. when you said layer 2 was done in the opposite direction i thought you meant turned not going back to start

great video! to help most people out could you show how to make the form that you wind the coil on? not the hand crank but the sizing of that or any different size coil. that is my number one problem. i get the coil wound just fine but because i dont have an exact coil sizing arbors, it's always too big or small at the end. would help me out and i know this is any DIY biggest problem

How the Number of turns and the gauges of copper wire is decided with respect to the desired specification?

the length and width of the wire can be calculated to find how many ohms it will be. longer winding length means further movement in the speaker and more bass. higher diameter winding makes more heat dissapation and lower efficiency so higher power can be used in the speaker.
