It's a beautiful ring! Does the ring vice flatten or distort the wire?

The tip of the ring vice is padded, so it shouldn't hurt the wire. If you were to squeeze it too tight, or if you were using a light gauge wire, you could have some bending of the wire, but nothing that you couldn't bend back pretty easily afterwards.
