I have been preparing cassava for years and never knew they peeled as easily as plantains. My mind is blown and I am so happy. Thank you so much for the information you share so freely. I must share your video with all my friends now so they know how easy it is to peel cassava.
@FloChinyere8 жыл бұрын
Wow, thanks for the feedback. I am glad you learnt something from that piece of information. :) Now I am glad I included that in the video. Lots of bits of information come to mind when I am making a video but during editing, in my bid not to bore people with what they know already, I take off some of them thinking that it is public knowledge. :)

All Nigerian Recipes It's like when I have to explain to my friends how to make South Indian food. I do things that my mother did, and generally do without thinking. Then, I show someone else how to do it, but forget to explain that I'm doing something specific. They didn't realise that I did it. Then disaster. For example, there's a step in a lot of South Indian recipes that involves heating up hot fat in a pot, over highest heat. You then add whole spices (mustard seed, cumin seed, etc), and get them hot enough to "pop", so that they infuse the fat. While they're popping, you lift the pot off the heat for a moment, so that the oil doesn't overheat, and the spices don't burn. It took my friend watching me like a hawk before I realised that I do that lifting off the pot from the stove thing without thinking it's anything special, because it's so obvious to me. Others don't think it's so obvious!

Is it possible to grate it dry it and make the abacha same day and eat it?
@FloChinyere7 жыл бұрын
No. After grating you need to soak the abacha for at least 8 hours (I go with 12 hours) for you to be able to wash off the cyanide easily. Even if you soak it early in the morning by the time 8 hours is gone, the sun will be gone too.
@rusibawe6657 жыл бұрын

Can you skip the 2 day drying process, if you want to use it right away to make a African salad ?

@@FloChinyere thank you so much for replying. I really want to make this salad only using five ingredients, you had in you video. I plan on soaking it overnight and washing it six times like you showed. I just wanted to know if I can make the salad right after I wash it 6 times, it looks delicious.
@abigailgreen87414 жыл бұрын
Dear sister Flo, I need your rescue ASAP. I ONLY discovered this making abacha from scratch video after soaking cassava for two hours then grated them into abacha. What next? I missed the parboiling step; now I have fresh abacha and clueless what to do with them. They cannot go to waste at ALL nooooooooo. I am going ahead to follow step two by soaking them overnight and wash them thoroughly according to the steps in your video. Question? Can I steam them after thorough wash then put them to dry in my oven at lowest setting until dry? Sunlight has diminished in the region where I live therefore I use my oven alot to hydrate many produce etc. I'm troubleshooting here, any suggestions from you OR any of your subscribers. Thank you for acknowledging my comment.

Thanks for sharing. I am Jamaican but curious when I heard of Abacha. Anyway my question is, can I dry abacus in the oven or dehydrator? Getting in the sun is kind of awkward for me. I currently resides in New York.
