I used to do this for my HE machine but it can screw the machine up and I also have septic, also a hard no. Now what I do is use like 1/4-1/2 tsp per load and I put it in a small cup of water then drop it in the washer instead of Castile directly on clothes because it will leave marks

Just curious why do you leave out the borax?

I wanted to try it without borax to see if it made a difference in my clothes being as clean, I have made it with and without borax and to be honest I don't see a difference when I use it, so I tend to leave it out.

Wondering if you've experienced some separation with your method. I made it as directed on the container and saw some separation occur in the mixture. I shook it up a bit and I'm hoping that's all it needs, but was curious if you've noticed the same in your mixture and if you have, if you've noticed any difference in its efficiency.

I have had it separate on me It is because it was not cooked down long enough for everything to dissolve properly. I have never had an issue with it not getting my clothing clean enough. It still works just as good, but then I just know to cook it down longer when I make a new batch.
