I made this, it’s a great sauce for when you want to fit in a ton of veggies into your diet. It’s not the most complex, requiring no bases or anything, but it does take a bit of time and a LOT of veg, so I’d recommend making it in a smaller batch before committing to a big one. It’s a bit lighter, which makes it great for dipping, and while it may not be thick enough for elbow or linguine, this would be a great penne or spaghetti sauce (not replacing marinara, obvs, I just mean as a sauce for spaghetti). This compliments white meats better, like chicken.

Try to understand. Veggie consumption doesn't mean much without knowing how they were cooked. If you roasted them in the oven as he did, you ain't getting much nutrition value out of any sauce made from it. Even if you ate * half the pan in one sitting, let alone dabs of sauce here n there. It's like people who think the micro amount of trace minerals in some salt rly contributes to their overall diet 🙄

Just a little chef/english correction; drizzling in some olive oil would not be to emulsify it would be to lubricate. Emulsifying is by definition, mixing two or more ingredients together that should not mix, the classic example being a vinaigrette. So the sauce was already blended into a sauce but it probably was just too thick and needed some thinning or lubricating. Apart from that this is a great recipe, I would personally add some cracked pepper and some other herbs and spices if you’re feeling adventurous 😅

Most students I know have at least got an oven. Fortunately a different way to make this would be to char the veggies over an open flame and then give them an ice bath, you can then peel them and are left with wonderful tasting veggies. As for the garlic, if you use more oil you can recreate it in a pan or you could wrap it in aluminum foil and get it hot on a grill or in a dutch oven

The All Purpose Sauce's one purpose is to give students nutrients their missing from their diet. Because most of the time students don't have time (or meal planning brain space) to cook and eat well balanced meal due to stress, assignments and studying. Great idea to create basically a vegetable smoothie. If you make a big enough batch and freeze it in portions then you're set for a while

Just made a chilli sauce using this recipe as a starting base. Started off roasted some Trinidad Scorpion, Naga Bhut Jolokia (aka Ghost Pepper), Mushroom Red and Thai Bird's Eye chillis (maybe about 20 chillis all up, mostly the Ghost then Scorpion) along with 2 tomatoes, half a capsicum, 1 & half onion and 4 cloves of garlic covered with olive oil & sea salt outside on the BBQ for a while (didn't time it, and used BBQ so the chilli fumes weren't inside). After roasting I let it cool down a bit before blending adding in some chilli powder, chilli flakes, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, apple cider vinegar, splash of white vinegar, splash of lemon juice and streaming in some olive oil. Initially it was a bit more hot than I wanted so I quickly sauteed another tomato on the stove to help mellow out the heat and add touch more tomato flavour, also added more apple cider vinegar and some water to help thin the sauce out to my liking (not too thick but not too thin). After letting the sauce cool down I poured it into two different 500g jars I had soaked in boiling water for several minutes earlier, filled one jar almost to the top and the other about three quarters. Didn't think to weigh the jars before filling but comparing to an empty jar (same as one I filled to the most) I estimate I made about 775-825g of sauce. It tastes great on the sweeter side with a nice kick from the chillis but nothing crazy hot, definitely a great idea to start off with this as a base.
@StrxwberryCxt
@StrxwberryCxt Жыл бұрын
That looks genuinely interesting and since i like chili i might as well make it myself, maybe tone it down a little cause that feels like waaay too much heat for me lmao. I also don't have a barbecue so I'll have to do either the oven or a stove.

In indonesia we have like this sauce and we called it "sambal", we have almost same ingredients but we add 'terasi' (shrimp paste) for increase more delecious taste. Also, the way we make it we don't bake all the ingredients but we fry them, put seosening on it when we blend it (sometimes we use 'ulekan' (traditional blender) for blend it)

The amount of calories from olive oil is insane 😂 I’ve made something similar to this with red peppers, jalapeños, onion, and garlic. Once you roast for a bit, blend it up and add to a pan. Add some heavy whipping cream, salt and pepper, bring to a simmer for 5 minutes and you’re done.

Its amazing to just bake vegetables, no joke. Just any vegetable that would be in a soup or a side dish can be oven baked, it makes them taste like the grilled version of it but also in a little sweeter. They just need some salt and pepper or dip them in any sauce youd use for grilled stuff. For real dude, you need to try.

In India this is nearly pav bhaji lol which is eaten usually with bread(brot) or toast. For those who don't have oven, just steam vegetables in a cooker and fry the steamed vegetables with spices in a huge pan and then grind all of them in a mixer. You can even add onions and peas into this. It tastes heavenly! I highly recommend it. Store it in an airtight container in freezer for a week.

Being travelers actually makes a lot of sense. She's talking about Irish travelers (or gypsies, but I'm pretty sure that's offensive). Their girls are often pulled out of school at 10 or 11 and are raised only to be house wives. And the big hair, make up, and designer clothes is very on mark for them. It's a deeply embedded culture and if you are born in to it, there is very little chance to get out. We have a big population of Texas Romani (very similar to the Irish travelers) where I live that have been here since the early 1800's and are still a very culturally separate and isolated from the rest of society. It's common around here to see big groups of 10 to 12 year olds dressed to the nines like full adult women at the mall or in restaurants.
