This was super helpful! I really like the idea of talking to my anxiety like I'm talking to a younger version of myself. It's easy to get frustrated and be like "what is wrong with me why am I so afraid of this one tiny thing" but looking at it and being like "okay, I get why you're worried, but it's going to be okay, we can do this" feels a lot more doable and just a lot kinder.
@morganevelyncookАй бұрын
Yes, definitely a kinder way to approach it! And I feel like it's so easy to get mad at your anxiety, but personifying it into a young version of yourself makes it harder to get upset with and easier to sympathize with, at least for me haha

I love watching your content! I am literally crying watching today. We are the same age and it has felt so reassuring to see someone else my age go through similar things as me. I have never been officially diagnosed with anxiety and am not sure if its worth taking the time/money to do so, but I love this advice and will be trying to put it into action.

I just discovered your channel and when you talked about judging our anxiety and shaming ourselves for what we feel or rather do not feel, I felt so seen! Especially lately I blame myself for not feeling what I should so often, especially when I should be happy and instead maybe I also feel anxious or sad. This video was super helpful and full of great advice for another person with generalized anxiety like me, thank you! very happy to have found your channel!

this are actually good advices, I was talking about the exact same points with my therapist today, is just so weird to think that annoying or terrifying things are happening all the time, but we can feel relaxed just cause it's not our fault xd it sounds crazy but it is what it is, thank u!

Something I like to think of as Christian, mainly, is that eventually, all of this will be history, and I can say whether or not I have any regrets or not when I meet Jesus and He can judge me accordingly. However, another thing I find helpful, is that...someone said somewhere that we reacted in the past with the tools and experience we had at that time. We shouldn't be so over-bearing of ourselves due to our past situations, only learn and grow - thus grow more confident in knowing, "Wow, now I have the tools for this and I CAN do this...heart racing and trauma inducing in all." ❤ I enjoyed this video, thank you ^_^

I'm currently writing my masters thesis and the sheer amount of anxiety this gives me makes everything else in life a lot harder. The little things that give me some anxiety normally, give me a lot of anxiety right now and I'm constantly exhausted by that. Thank you for these tips! Especially "break it down into physical steps" is gonna help me not see my thesis as this big scary unaccomplishable task and just look at the next little step I need to do. (Also I know this is just an anxiety inducing task to do :'D)
@morganevelyncookАй бұрын
Omg I know the EXACT feeling you're describing of one big anxiety inducing thing making everything else so much harder. To the extent you can, try to prioritize rest and self care because anxiety IS really exhausting! I used to think it was weird that I was tired all the time during very anxious periods of my life and I thought I was just lazy and would try to push through and do all the things I normally would and my therapist was like "of course you're tired, anxiety is exhausting" and it was like a light bulb moment where I realized that during high anxiety times I really needed to prioritize rest and be kind to myself if I wanted to take a nap instead of going out with friends. Like it wasn't just that I was lazy I was actually legitimately drained and needed to listen to my body. So, sorry that was a rambling run on sentence, but hopefully that anecdote helps a little too. Thank you for watching and best of luck on your thesis!!
@silvercookies16 күн бұрын
Anxiety IS exhausting. Good luck with your thesis. What helps me when I'm working on something similar is to just tell myself this is a first draft, no one has to see this, and that helps alleviate some of the pressure and fear of creating something that sucks cause its ok for drafts to suck and its a lot easier to edit something after versus staring at a blank page/screen.

What if breaking the big thing down into smaller steps suddenly makes the project look a thousand times longer and is *also* super overwhelming? So far, it can help to just cover the entire list except for the very first thing (so that I can't see it and in theory it therefore doesn't exist), but sometimes knowing that the rest is there makes it impossible to get started.
@silvercookies16 күн бұрын
Try breaking down the first couple of steps, and when you tick those off, break down the next couple of steps and continue from there.

Hi. I really like your videos. Great advice. Breathing exercises also help me cope with anxiety. You take a few deep breaths, hold your breath, and exhale slowly. And then there's the 'I don't give a fuck' practice. 😁What is that small gray door on the wall in your bedroom?
@morganevelyncookАй бұрын
Hi! I'm so glad you're enjoying them. And yes, breathing exercises can be sooo helpful. I use them a lot at night to calm myself down and get ready for bed. Also the little gray door houses the circuit breaker for our apartment haha.

when you said rapid heart rate I can relate to that... does it make you feel bad? how do you deal with it... just go by your day
@silvercookies16 күн бұрын
I don't know what Morgan does, but when I realize I am having physical symptoms from my anxiety, like rapid heart rate, I try to take a break from what's going on. Listen to a guided meditation and take some calm, deep breaths, take a walk around the hallway (if at work) or up and down the stairs. If I am home, I get up and go into another room or stand outside and take in some nature for a little bit. Note down any anxious thoughts in a journal or notes app. Make a cup or chamomile or peppermint tea.

Hey Morgan 😊 I am so so happy that my algorithm showed me one of your videos because you’ve very quickly become one of my favourite KZbinrs! 🤍 I was genuinely so excited to see that you posted a new video even though I’m having a rough day and was very down all day. You’re such a fucking hilarious and wonderfully smart, talented and skilled person! I love your content - it makes me laugh a lot and helps me with my own anxiety so thank you very much. Been having a very difficult time for a long while now and then just expected myself to be able to write my thesis according to plan which of course wasn’t that easy so I had another day today where I was just so anxious because of everything that I still need to get done and on top of that I was just so disappointed and annoyed that I haven’t gotten more done and that I was feeling so anxious.. so your tip really helped with not beating myself up too much on top of my anxiety. Looking forward to watching all your content for years to come 😊 have a good day - sending lot of hugs from Germany ☺️🧡
