Incorrect the only actual real man way to sell beats is to stand outside of a convenience store and hit everybody who walks by with the universally accepted and despised phrase, “ay, ay-yo my mans hey lokklooklook ay yo my mans, yo you like hip hop?” Dope so now you’ve got the introduction, interrupted their day gotten way too close to them so you’re good from this point right but the most important part comes next. Here you need to overly talk up how you’re not on that corny shit and you do that real real hip-hop right and the only reason that you’re at the bus stop waiting right now is because your car is in the shop cause you’re getting some custom 20 inch aluminum foil, spinner hubcaps put on. but you have to push how got cred, lack of corniness, but most of all you are on that real . if your victim does not appear to be on that reel make it real to whoever this person is. if this person has irritable bowel syndrome than you also got some political revolutionary bars about having irritable, bowel syndrome and the struggle. OK, so now you set the table all you gotta do is put food on it right this is when you present the cassette tape that you have recorded all of your music on and it must be a cassette tape if it is not a cassette tape you are woke and gay probably Now we first your victim/new friend maybe be hesitant I don’t know you push that tape that person does not leave without your tape. That’s how you get your beats out there. That’s how you get all that shit out there meet people in the streets meet them where they’re at And then leave them alone because they’re probably gonna be tired of the entire situation you put them in at that point but still you’re welcome bro. Absolutely welcome. Definitely make sure you got a stolen bus pass so that way you can make a clean getaway once you run out of that product.

1:12 reminds me of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Would this be where you gained the inspiration? Yo Pain, I can’t help but come to your videos cause you DO (and I admit like most won’t) inform on topics and backend music business like no other. My only criticism is that your energy just seems as fed up with this industry as I am every time I check on you. Difference is, you’ve had more success. With that being said, with as happy as you seem, this music shyt almost doesn’t even seem worth it when it comes from OG’s like you. I’d love to have a civil conversation with you. At least to bridge the gap between folks like you with little folks like me looking for a door. Btw, that intro definitely showed your gratitude and after years of looking for reasons to fwy, that sealed it. Love.
@DJPain1Ай бұрын
Thank you. I’m not fed up with the industry at all; if anything, I’m fed up with KZbin. I talk about this in videos pretty often. Respectfully, what doesn’t help is when people leave comments where they tell me about my ‘energy’ but they dont know me on an energetic level. It’s not just your comment- it’s a cumulative effect, especially since I get virtually nothing in return for making these videos, I’m just trying to be helpful. It sours the whole experience tbh 🤷🏽 Thank you for watching 🙏🏽

Yo Pain, much love G, producer from Jamaica here. Quick backstory: I’m in the prep phase of launching my beat store. The sound from my country has evolved by blending elements from Trap, which now gets called Trap Dancehall or Trap Hall (I was heavily influenced by Lex Luger, Sonny Digital and Young Chop when I first started). I’m not really drawn to it-doesn’t quite have the authentic sonics I’m used to. But hey, the marketplace is what it is. That said, I’ve been mixing my style with the Trap influences, and I’ve developed my own formula for it. I clicked on this video because I’m really focused on making sure my mixes are worth paying for once I launch my store. I’ve gotten a good grasp of cleaning up frequencies, gain staging, and stereo imaging, which has made a huge difference in my mixing approach. But the question I haven't been able to answer: do I leave my producer tag on the MP3/WAV files that I upload to the beat stores? They suggest uploading untagged files however, I spent a good time working on them and they do give a flare to the beat itself (well, in my opinion). I really vibe with your content, personality, and overall passion-it's inspiring, for real so whatever clarity you can provide on this I would really appreciate it. Keep doing your thing fam, and I’m looking forward to hearing from you. Much appreciated, as always!
@DJPain12 күн бұрын
@@N9NIGHT some leave the tag, some don’t. I don’t because I couldn’t stand the bitching from people who freak out over a single, quiet intro tag 🤷🏽

I am a bit confused about this term beat making. Does it mean making just drumbeats or does it also involve other musical instruments? I mean is it like a full-fledged musical idea ?
@drewblancheАй бұрын
As a rapper, I would be searching for ‘exclusive beats’ only on beatstars, or $30 and below beat leases. Your $32 a lease is less attractive than say $25-$29.99 a lease. I think $32 is odd, I would go to $30 or go up to $35. But if you list a beat at say $62 I’m not ever gonna purchase it. I want the numbers to be rounded up or down, not just somewhere in the middle. I also never ever search for specific rapper type beats. Idk why any producer would use a rapper’s name in their title because that’s not how I ever search for beats. I search for ‘no melody type beats’ or sad emo type beat, but never do I search by the rapper’s name. In my honest opinion, ‘sad emo type beat’ would get much more hits or views than say ‘lil peep type beat’ cuz I never search for those even if I want similar sounding type beats it’s just not on my mind to look up certain artists by name but more by the genre they are in. I guess it’s like searching for a diddy type beat as opposed to a bad boy type beat. I just wanted to let you know as someone who tries to rap/produce/dj and also just a viewer of your content, this is how I search for beats and I look up instrumentals every day, the ones that stick out that I will remember are the beats that have their own title like “Streetlights” or “Diss track freestyle instrumental” again, it wouldn’t make any difference to add lil uzi in the title, just the type of beat it is like diss track or freestyle etc. I hope this helps someone with how they should go about listing their tracks online. ❤ also always include a link don’t just have an IG name listed and say contact me there. I really hate that. A lot of us don’t even want to use IG at all. I also never want to purchase beats thru IG or PayPal or anything else but a certain beat website. Asking anyone to cash app you and you’ll email them beats that’s not protecting me on my end that I will even receive any beats ❤

@stiptreezy8481Ай бұрын
This is similar to the using/not using samples debate, I think at the end of the day some people look up beats based off of descriptive terms and some do look up type beats I’ve seen both and been a rapper/been around them for going on 15 years.
@thelibrarian3734Ай бұрын
@@drewblanche how much would you expect to pay for a beat you actually use on a release without getting sued as opposed to renting a beat, have you missed a few zeros on your estimate of an ‘’exclusive’’ deliberately? Sorry if I’m missing the point or the humour🤔

@@DJPain1 Since the Producer retains the underlying composition, isn’t it possible to keep your instrumental track as a playlist/mixtape and still sell the rights to the derivative Master as a separate composition without any issues?
@DJPain1Ай бұрын
@@ghost-user559 what you’re describing is the sound recording, not the underlying composition.
@ghost-user559Ай бұрын
@@DJPain1 But a “Master” in modern music is the file you export from your Daw (WAV/MP3). Since the producer retains the full rights to their original composition in a standard contract, they can make another Master at will merely by exporting the session again, as its not the file/sound recording that was transferred to the Artist. Technically the recording derived from the Artist and the Producer is a derivative work which isn’t granting the rights to the original composition itself, but is creating a new intellectual property which combines the Artist and Producers contributions. Isn’t it possible then to release the instrumentals themselves, if the producers retain full rights to the composition? Technically we can just “print” a new Master at will from the session file, and its within the rights of the Producer to exploit their original composition and Produce new Masters of that instrumental as long as they retain the rights to the composition. I understand that for some situations one might want to remove the track if a label buys out the original composition, but otherwise it’s within the Producers rights based on the beatstars standard contract where the Producer retains the original composition.
