Tried it and it taste just like yoshinoya. I Left out the sake though, still was good. I’m moving to a state that doesn’t have yoshinoya so I’m so glad I can make my own at home now. Btw I got a pack of shaved beef from Ralph’s (or Kroger if your not on the west coast) for 5.99 fed a family of 4. Oh and I added some steamed broccoli. My family loved it.

You can also use Steakum, which is 100% beef, sliced super thin.

Dry sherry, white wine. I assume some sugar or honey to substitute the mirin sweetness. I was just looking this up too, wanting to make gyudon but here im Croatia I can't find a lot of the traditional ingredients.

STOPPED WATCHING ONE MINUTE IN. You call that "thinly sliced"? IT'S A QUARTER-INCH THICK! Not only that, you are slicing it WITH the grain rather than against it to make for more tender chewing. You should have cut 1" slices from this steak, then rotated each slice 90 degrees on the cutting board, then sliced them as paper-thin as possible. PAPER, not cardboard. I don't know what the rest of the video showed, but it could NOT have been that good. No way.

Use something acidic (lemon, lime etc.) and sugar instead of mirin.

@Whats the frequency Kenneth No. If you pour brandy into a pan and let the evaporating alcohol ignite from the gas burner you'd be surprised to find that up to 75 per cent of the alcohol can remain in the food. Add alcohol to the end of the cooking process and you're going to evaporate just 10-50 per cent of the wine off. Even the long, slow simmering of an alcohol-laced dish will leave you with about 5 per cent of the original amount of alcohol remaining in the dish. And oureverydaylife.com/long-alcohol-cook-out-something-40955.html

@@Butcher22-1 Don't add any alcohol 😊 just replace with something acidic, my friend (she is Muslim too) is adding small amount of vinigar and sugar to replace wine.
