Finally! A Japanese Vlogger who can speak very good English and sounds friendly. Thank you, Ichie san for the Step by Step instructions and explanation of the cooking techniques. They make a lot of sense. I have tried it before several times but the beef always turns out tough. I thought maybe the quality of my beef is not superior like yours that is why it fails. I will try your technique and hopefully it comes up delicious. Arigatou Gozaimasu😊

@@Zinnia2023 Thank you for your comment! There are often two main reasons why the meat becomes tough. 1) Cooking over high heat Simmer slowly over low heat. 2) Using lean or thick cuts of meat Choose thin cuts of meat with more marbling. Also, try the method of covering the meat with onions and ginger. If you follow the recipe closely, it should turn out delicious!

Can I substitute the beef slices with pork belly slices for this recipe?
@jpcookingichie2 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment! Beef is the best choice, but if you need a substitute, I recommend using pork instead of chicken. Use pork with a lot of fat, preferably in thin slices. In Japan, this is known as a different dish called "butadon" (pork bowl). I'll do my best to share the recipe for "butadon" soon!

great video! any recommendation for an alternative to sake? i'm here in the ME so sake is not allowed.
@jpcookingichie12 күн бұрын
For a substitute for cooking sake, white wine or mirin is recommended. If you can’t use alcohol, it’s also fine to skip it. The role of cooking sake is to add umami and eliminate unwanted odors, but other seasonings generally achieve similar effects, so omitting it won’t make a big difference.

How long do you recommend storing extra in the fridge? 食べるの前に何日待てますか
@jpcookingichieАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment and asking in Japanese as well! Be sure to store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They will last for about 3 days in the fridge. By the way, leaving the gyudon overnight allows the flavors of the beef to meld with the onions, making it even more delicious, so I recommend trying it that way! If you divide it into individual portions and store it in the freezer, it will last for 2 to 3 weeks, but the flavor will degrade compared to refrigeration, so I recommend storing it in the fridge.

what is the alternative for saki and mirin?
@jpcookingichie3 күн бұрын

For mirin, you can substitute 1 tablespoon with 1/2 teaspoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of dry white wine with a similar alcohol content. @@jpcookingichiewhat is the alternative of dashi?
@jpcookingichie9 сағат бұрын
@@anaranson2327 Since you're using ingredients and seasonings that contain umami, such as meat and soy sauce, it's okay to skip the dashi altogether. However, using dashi will enhance the flavor, so I highly recommend adding it. ◎To learn how to make dashi from ingredients, please watch this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nILIeX2JpbGJhc0si=ITUM9g73uT3jqK5i ◎For recommended dashi packs, here they are. www.amazon.com/dp/B07QRX9DWL
