What is the thickness of poplar for the face frame?

I find your attention to detail worthy of old school craftsmanship.

I like to run the air hose over my right shoulder, keeps it from accidentally brushing up against the car when im spraying. Great project. Congrats.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Great tip on the spray hose. I usually only have to spray whats right in front of me so that never crossed my mind. I have to make another set of shelves for another bed room and will definitely try it! They also make a smaller more flexible hose whip between the main hose and the gun. I have been meaning to order one. The stock hose is not very forgiving in tight spaces.

Is there a reason you attach it off the shelf as one large frame piece vs individually attaching each piece directly to bookshelf?

I like the seamless look of a one piece face frame if they shelves were adjustable instead of fixed then I would attach a wood lip to each shelf and just have one big rectangular face frame on the outside.

Whats the wood u said, pobler? For the shelf face

Yes for these shelves I used poplar. It’s one of the softer hard woods and sands and paints well. If this was a kitchen cabinet I Would use hard maple. It paints as well as poplar but is harder and less likely to damage with heavy use.

Those shelves came out awesome! How did the mask you used help filter out any of the smell?

The respirator blocked all smell and harmful fumes while spraying. It is definitely a must for spraying paint and sanding drywall compound!

I honestly think I could build that now. I have been dying to get a paint sprayer. In total how long would you say the painting portion took?
@diydano2 жыл бұрын
Each coat took about 20 min not including set up and cleaning of the sprayer. I allowed the primer to dry for 20 min after the first coat and 40 after the second coat because I needed to make sure it was dry enough to sand before the paint. All said and done it was about 3.5 hours total.

@@diydano got it thanks. I was considering either putting puck lights or LED strips to give it a cool look at night.
