Love this recipe. Have literally eaten salad (I know, you frown on Ranch as a salad dressing) for breakfast several times in the past couple weeks because of this recipe. And totally funny….worked at Gianni’s Pizza in Monterey CA for a couple years in high school (1985-87). Someone turned me on to Ranch as pizza dipping sauce in the late 1980’s…have been eating pizza with Ranch for what, 37 years!!

About 20 years my friends & family were putting buttermilk ranch on their plate of: spaghetti, chicken wings and strips, pizza, meatballs, subs, tuna salad, 7 layer salad, fresh veggies, tacos, nachos, Coney dogs, Italian sausages, baked potatoes. I thought it awful untill I tried it out for myself. I was actually good especially on the spaghetti and baked potatoes, in place of sour cream on tacos. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your day.

I don't hate ranch dressing in fact if it's the only available dip at a party I'll have it but I will say there are others that are better for dips, dressings, etc. Italian, Bleu Cheese, Honey Mustard (the best kind of mustard), Caesar (which was actually invented in Mexico by a guy named Caesar), Balsamic so lots of options for me. But would definitely try this.

I am a firm believer that "real" mayonnaise should be yellow in color (how does Helman's get their real version white?) but I've never had an occasion that required a quantity that I feel would be worth the mess/waste. This might just be the excuse I need to finally pull that trigger. Just an aside here, does anybody know if mayo and or ranch dressing can be frozen and survive the process? If it can, that would give me another reason to make this mess in quantity.
@tperiodjackson4 жыл бұрын
Finite Tuning I often make just one cup from scratch at a time. Whisking by hand in a bowl is the cleanest, immersion blender isn’t too bad on clean up either. I suspect both ranch and mayo would freeze fine, but separate when thawed.

Why would you recommend store bought mayo when we are making a salad dressing? Home made mayo is like 50 times better and takes 5mins to make with the same stuff you already had out. Next time I guess
@jayp173611 ай бұрын
You get far enough down the line on any recipe and Eventually something in the recipe is “store bought” not everyone has time to make home made mayo from scratch on top of making the homemade ranch on top of making the actual dish. It’s actually crazy you don’t use store bought maybe your time isn’t worth the couple bucks for mayo? That’s the funny part about life, you get to decide that. Either way I’m sure the difference isn’t very noticeable. And you save much more time getting store bought. :)
@vctrsone11 ай бұрын
The idea is to make amazing salad dressing, you don't start with canola oil and "356,278,389" food flavoured chemicals. No it wont be the same, ones made from egg, vinegar and olive oil, the other is made from thickner, canola oil and chemicals, that dont even have the same consistency.@@jayp1736
