Thank God for you and KZbin! I am 71 and struggling against the effects of 4 strokes. I rolled out of bed at the crack of noon today, staggered in a haze to the kitchen to get some coffee only to drop my 53 year old percolator. The glass bubble shattered. One of my friends cracked up when I boiled her coffee in a pan, then folded a filter into a funnel to keep the grounds out of her cup. She decided she DIDN"T need a $100 one cup coffee maker. Then I showed her how to repeat the procedure into a mason jar, cool completely, make coffee ice cubes for iced coffee, and add the grounds to her houseplants for compost. It didn't take long for that city gal to go cowgirl.

@Ty It would only taster bitter if it was BOILED ... The way we cooked it was ... boil the water, then drop the coffee down in it... take it off the fire... (add a pinch of salt) ... then a little bit of cool water (that would make the grounds settle to the bottom). It's a lot like the French Press without the fancy pot... Cowboy coffee is great, and I noticed it doesn't take as much coffee grounds either... Well, that's my taste.

I have been making my coffee this way before I saw your great video. Very seldomly do coffee brewing videos mention this easy method. I bring my coffee grounds to a just boil in a glass coffee pot on the stove top and let it stand for 10 minutes, then pour it into a cup throught a ordinary metal tea strainer. Tge coffee tastes delicious and clean everytime. Thanks for sharing your method!
@alanfchef33883 жыл бұрын
I can imagine it would taste quite bitter. An easier way would be to bring the water to a boil first, then remove from the heat, then stir in the coffee. I just measure how much water I want by filling the cup then adding to the pot. Best to use about a heaping tablespoon per cup. Medium roast works best as it does not become bitter.

Tried it tonight easy peasy! Tastes better than drip and easy cleanup, and you don't ever have to buy filters again. To speed up the grounds falling just sprinkle some cold water into the pan the grounds will immediately fall. Also using a deep sauce pan helps to separate the coffee from the grounds when pouring.

In the end it's really just like French press coffee without the filtering press and being picky over the water temp or similar to Turkish coffee. If you don't want to risk grinds you can always pour it into another vessel and then put a wet filter over your cup and filter it that way. Starbucks has some decent specialty stuff but their standard coffee is, to me at least, nasty. Burnt or something, no matter where I go. Dunkin is ok but their specialty drinks tend to be too acidic for me. I'd take this any day over those.

My coffee maker just expired, I almost panicked, instead, I ventured to social media, knowing I'd find a life saving Tuber, you're a A Jem, thanks a million, stovetop coffee is tastier!!!! I have been inundated in modern day appliances/technology, completely gadget spoiled, to the extent of forgetting my mother's good old fashion, simplistic teachings!!!!!!!!

This is the kind of straightforward knowledge tech companies want you to forget about. Wish we had more of this kind of stuff in the world. Hi tech gadgets may actually make things more complicated and expensive than they really are.

Thanks for the tip! My coffee maker broke this morning and now (while in quarantine) is not the time to go out and buy a new one. So I'll try this! :)

Add some cold water when you kill the heat. It settles the grounds and tempers the flavor. Made this while camping on the trails. Great for regularity.

This is actually the best coffee I've ever had in my life! I made it with Gevalia. I'm a caffeine freak and I feel like their should be a chain serving this!

Thank you for this wonderful video! I’ve grown exhausted from always buying a new coffee maker every year - sometimes twice a year because I use mine a lot! I will never buy another one now thanks to you.
