I am going to build this for the overflow spillway of my waterfall I am building. I need a custom tank in a weird shape and I dont have a sheet metal shop. This looks like it will work since its 100% water tight with all that epoxy

Nice one - very well described. I have just decided to make my own holding tank rather than buy one. I did a KZbin search and your channel popped up. I was thinking of simply making a plywood box and then covering it inside and out with fiberglass. But I like your idea of laminating the plywood first and then using thickened epoxy and stainless screws. I'll provide a link to your channel after I have done it so that people can see how it should be done if that's OK. Cheers.

I’d recommend using an aircraft technique to make the bond area of the top larger.

I want to try this on my new evaporate cooler to hold the water and be free of rust. My question how long will hold do I need to paint it?

Excellent project. Would this also work for fresh water tanks. ? I love the threaded fittings

Thanks! I am not sure what to tell you on water tanks. West System provides a guide on building tanks but never really says it's OK to build water tanks. Personally, I wouldn't do it for water tanks. Thanks for watching! Visit our new website if you get a chance. www.boatnotes.com

after all those material costs, might as well buy a 200 gallon tank.
@boatnotes688510 ай бұрын
Sure, just a saw hole in the bottom of the boat to accommodate your 200 gallon idea!

Hey! sorry for my google english! How to seal the plastic threads in the tank. I can not imagine that you just screw the fittings on those epoxy threads. thanks for your videos

How is the tank holding up?
@boatnotes68853 жыл бұрын
The tanks is holding up well. No smell, no leaks, no problems. The boat was caught in 8-12 foot seas with serious headwinds (30-40 knots) for over 24 hours on one sailing trip. It was a good test. I am very satisfied with the build quality of the tank.

was that 10KG of epoxy or what? :)
@boatnotes688510 ай бұрын
Yeah, no, coating plywood doesn’t take a lot of epoxy. Once you learn how to use epoxy you’ll know this. 😂
