I graduated from ECU a LONG time ago and really miss Brunswick Stew. Parkers BBQ kept us college students alive for the 4 years we lived in Greenville. Thank you for this recipe and the memories☺.

Brunswick Stew at The Mallard Creek Presbyterian Annual BBQ in Charlotte NC was the fondest memory of my Dad, who took me every year since I was a little kid and helped when he could, even though he was a Baptist 😉. After 100 years of BBQ Brunswick Stew making, yours is pretty darn close 👍🏼👍🏼. Well done ♥️

The very best stew I ever eat in my life was what my Grandma made in her kitchen, hands down!!! She cooked the same recipe my Great-Great Grandma made for all our family...Lol. You know that you don't need a Lab to cook the best. Lol. All you need is Grandmas kitchen stove and the magic and Love from her hands...Lord how I miss all my Grandma's and my precious Mama and her cooking...God Bless them all...Now I'm a Great Grandma and cooking that same recipe and putting my own touches to it. We never used canned veggies, they're always fresh! Canned veggies is cheating n the lazy way! Georgia cooks it better hands down...Lol. 🙏💖🙏💖

You are right about Georgia being the best cooks, hands down. I taught my daughter to cook like I was taught by my mother. That young lady can get in the kitchen, & make a meal with hardly any thing at all, & let me tell you it is delicious, I'm 76 & she is 49, but she started watching me & learning at an early age. She has a sister, that if she had to çook, she would starve ( litterlyi).

Grew up in Eastern NC - Wayne & Lenoir Co. I didn't experience Brunswick Stew until eating at the Barbecue Lodge (now closed) on Hwy 70 outside of Kinston. For about 2 1/2 years I lived nearby and ate there about once a month. Your recipe seems to be pretty much the same as what I was introduced to. 🤤

I have a cast iron Dutch oven and make this on a fire in the back yard. I don’t usually have smoked meat but use pork, chicken and beef which I will braise in broth. When the meat is falling apart will add my veggies. Onion, limas, corn, tomatoes and potatoes. Some bbq sauce or catsup and Wooster sauce. Cook for a couple hours.

I’ve never made Brunswick Stew. It looks hard, but when I started doing it, it was really easy. I found a basic shortcut, thought. I don’t usually do a brisket or smoked chicken. BUT I found already pre made pulled pork in the store and am using that. Also, I have NO problem with butter beans. I have never had B Stew without them. I’ll let you know how it turns out. (OH I did have to go out and get a Dutch Oven-- I figure I’ll be using it for many other dishes, so why not). Oh, my wife says this is the best Brunswick Stew she has ever had (and she loves Brunswick Stew).
@elizabethshaw7343 жыл бұрын
I grew up on vegall! I voice type and it does not like odd words! I think it tastes better than Frozen mixed vegetables because there is onion in there and potatoes. I add corn and creamed corn. Yeah see Georgia doesn't use lima beans and I love lima beans so they're in my Brunswick stew! I also add onions and celery to my Brunswick stew. Sorry I have talked so much but I have no family and no close friends yet so I tend to talk quite a bit in the comments on KZbin. I apologize. I had Brunswick stew somewhere that had an undertone of barbecue sauce and I love it! In the evening I can eat an entire quart of pickles and drink the brine. I don't think I'll have a problem with eastern North Carolina barbecue sauce.

North Carolina is the fastest growing state in the country. I live in Maine and I am disabled in an electric wheelchair and I'm looking to buy a manufactured home which used to be called a mobile home. I am plugged into quite a bit of services but I'm wondering because my pain level doesn't like the winter in Maine where I'm at if I should move to North Carolina. If anybody here can point me in the direction of some safe areas I would be very grateful! I have also shared this video and I love Brunswick stew so I want to try your version! :-) thank you for sharing!

I was looking for Brunswick stew and happened upon your comment and what the hell does what you had to say in any way about stew? North Carolina was never the fastest growing anything. This guy is drunk as shit for the entire video but his recipe was solid. If you are still looking for attention or meth NC is a great starting point. Hope you found whatever the crap you’re looking for 2 years later.

Do you have a favorite brand of crushed tomatoes? A lot of them are fairly acidic/astringent. I presume you're not getting the good stuff. (The good stuff being from Bianco Dinapoli.) So... Cento? Or does it matter? I just figure that the more acidic the tomatoes, the more likely they need a little sugar to take the edge off. That is, unless you think the dish needs the acidity.
