I made this with my hands since I don't have a food processor and I see a lot of comments questioning how to make it so I'll just leave this here for you guys First follow the recipe to the exact measurements, the cubed butter will give you some resistance but I found that slicing it a little thinner made it a lot easier to knead the dough with. This only took 10 minutes to finish up basically the most important thing is to keep kneading the dough until you see no flakes and have all your flour absorbed in it. It should be a smooth consistency with some stickiness to it. And thats all it's pretty simple and you still follow the recipe exactly how it is!

First, I want to say this recipe is delicious and I plan on using it in the future. This was my very first time making a pie crust, so I'm a newbie. However, I wanted to give a heads up to others in case anyone has the same problems I did. The first time I made it, I left it in the fridge overnight and came back to it the next morning. It was hard as a rock. If I had thrown it across the room, it would have put a hole in the drywall. Fortunately, letting it sit on the counter for an hour or so softened it up to the point that I could work with it. The second hiccup was that it didn't make enough for two pie crusts. I bought a nice deep large pie dish, so that's probably why. If you have a more shallow dish, this will probably work as is. But for me, I had to increase the recipe by 1.5. The second time I made this, I only let it sit in the fridge for two hours so it wouldn't get hard. But it STILL got pretty hard. I don't know if this is supposed to happen or if I'm doing something wrong, but I followed the recipe as is. My crust was definitely not as easy to work with like in this video. It was really difficult to roll out (even after sitting out a while, it was still hard), and kept cracking and falling apart. I wasn't blessed with patience. Unfortunately, I WAS blessed with a temper so the combo didn't fare well as I tried to roll out the dough and shape it. There were several times I just wanted to roll it in a ball and just hurl it across the room. Also, even though I used a pastry mat and plenty of flour, it kept sticking to the mat and rolling pin. I guess I didn't use enough flour. This definitely added to my frustration. Fortunately, after finally getting it rolled out and into the dish, filling with apples, and baking in the oven, the crust came out nice and brown and delicious without any problems. There's just a learning curve to this, I guess.

First ever pie dough attempt and a rare use of my food processor. The hardest part was actually finding it, since I so infrequently use it. Great result. I made this specifically for the chicken pot pie recipe, which was fantastic. And the trick of using the rolling pin to help roll the dough out over the pie plate worked great.

For over 56 years I have been using my Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma's recipe for pie crust. Instead of using the 2 1/2 cups of flour I would use 2 1/4 cups of flour and 1/4 cornstarch. This how they made it way back in the early & late 1800's and 1900's. I have never found a recipe for an apple pie as good as my Mom's. Yet my sister and I can not make it to where it tastes as good. My Mom used alot of butter. I will try this recipe for your pie crust and your apple pie recipe. Maybe I will get closer to how hers tasted. Thank you so much Natasha for all these great recipes you are sharing.

I made pie for the first time ever today. With no prior experience of handling any dough ever, this recipe still came through and the crust tasted like a dream 😍 Guys honestly, please make this crust. It's flaky and awesome wow PRO TIP: if you live in a warmer climate like me, refrigerate the dough at every step! I rolled it out halfway and placed it in the fridge for 5-8 minutes, then rolled it out the rest of the way. After placing the crust on the pie pan I placed that in the fridge as well while I rolled out the top crust. it helped a LOT. oh and I was rolling out on cling film so it was a breeze to transfer the dough!

Made the pie, you won't regret this. Perfect firmness, although if you don't like a pie with a slight sour taste to it then make sure you add more sugar. For me though, I love sour food. The sourness was perfect for my palette. My pie dish was too wide and I had to outstretch the dough, it still wasn't enough unfortunately. I managed to cover the top with strips but couldn't cover the edges whatsoever. Make sure you get a pie dish not too wide, or use a normal dish that isn't necessarily intended for pies such as the one Natasha is using. Funnily though, my pie managed to stay intact despite that! Tastes delicious, this is THE pie you're looking for.

Tip: if you don’t have a food processor for pie crust, I would use a blender, that’s what I do and it turns out great every time!

Hi ma'am Natasha, l am a thirteen year old fan of you from Sri Lanka willing to be a chef. I was searching a pie dough to make a pie and finally tried yours. It was really awesome. I really appreciate you for this recipe. I tried this three time. Firstly l doubled the recipe and and made two pies then last week another pie and day before yesterday some cookies from this dough. The taste is balanced in this dough. A good recipe. And a good pastry like texture and a crunchiness which l love. Thanks for sharing such wonderful recipes that work.😉.Waiting for more recipes like this. I get e mails whenever you post a new re ipe. This is the first recipe of yours which l tried. Love you loads. 🍰🍩🍦

I'm TERRIFIED of working with doughs of ANY kind, I'm afraid I'll mess it up so I just avoid them altogether. Any tips Chef?

Butter and Water and Flour are difficult to work with at times, Pie Crust needs COLD Solid Butter, so if you just turn on your Food Processor and let it run, the friction of the blade spinning will melt the butter..butter is around 18% water. Pulsing the Processor by just touching and then release the pulse button will keep the butter from melting ( I like to grate my butter with a cheese grater), then put the grated butter in the freezer for 1/2 hour, then add it into the processor, (I also mix the butter and flour together in a separate bowl ) then add that mix to the processor. I live in the California Desert, 3/4 of the year it's over 80F, Butter turns to liquid at 93F-96F. Easy fix with wet Dough: Pat and Shape the Dough into a Disk ( like what she does in the Video), Cover the Dough with Flour EVERYWHERE, then put it on a plate and put it in the FREEZER for 30+ minutes, then use Wax Paper and pull off enough for you to roll out the Pie Crust, dust the paper with a little more flour, lay the cold Dough on the paper and dust the top of the Dough with flour and put another sheet of wax paper on top and roll out to size with your roller, the paper and flour will keep the Dough from sticking to the roller, and you should be good to go.

I used this recipe for chicken pot pie. I slightly adjusted the recipe to my taste because we like our crust a little sweeter. I used 1 1/2 tbs sugar and 1 tsp salt instead. Perfect!
