I am a bridal seamstress and I have used strips from hem cut offs to make twine, ivory and random bridesmaid colours. I made a rug but I couldn’t persuade it to sew the way I thought it should go round the twine and ended up using a sharp needle and doubled thread to stitch the rows together. It was very hard on my fingers, but now I have seen your method of sewing it I might make something else. My twine was a bit wonky because I was using slightly curved strips from hems I think. Thank you 😊

I save all your videos for future projects! This is so cool! In Portugal, basket art is/was a tradition. People would make baskets that were used to go to the markets. It’s a tradition that’s getting lost and baskets are really, really expensive. These vessels and bowls do remind me of Portuguese baskets and I’d really love to make one. I like the big and the one with a “strange” shape. They’re gorgeous. You explain it perfectly 💙🧡💗💛♥️🖤💜❤️💚

I have learnt two things here - the magical knot and the art of twining a little saucer. K3N, thank you so much for such a detailed video - I actually had to replay and replay and replay various sections but it was so concise, just the brain not behaving - however, I don’t think I’ve got enough twine to finish so either I have to make another smaller biscornu or add to the existing one😊

What you said, you like making useful objects, I like that too. Or at least the objects seem to be useful ... I do not always really make use of them ... I made several vessels/ baskets/bags, in different sizes, of different materials and in different techniques. I think the tiniest ones are the most useful, they can hold some very tiny things (stitchmarkers, earrings), so those things are easy to find.

You absolutely could and it's something I would like to do one day, when the crown is big enough, start coming out for the brim. If ever I get round to it, I will share it on my channel. ❤️

They are various vintage spools and loom spindles picked up over the years. I make stitched scrolls to wrap around them. There is a video called Stitch Meditation Scrolls ❤️

@@k3n.clothtales I spin and weave and I thought they might be something connected to that. Don’t do much any more just spin a little. Getting to old and lazy. lol. Hand work is my thing nowadays. I did machine quilting for the public for about 10 years but not any more. Funny how life changes as you get older. Not a complaint just observation. I have always loved any kind of hand work. Thanks for answering and I love the old tools. Blessings

When your making ropes do you need the same type of rope,eģ T.shirt, cotton, nylon, Would the stretchy rope be thinner than cotton. I'm disabled and cannot sit at a table so I'm looking for hand sewing small projects. Just found your channel, marvellous. Thank you for inspiring me, I'd almost giving up on making crafts which I'd always done. Thanks Patricia, NZ

Hello Patricia and welcome. I tend to use only natural fibres, mostly cotton and silk. T-shirt would be stretchier but you can certainly use it, I sometimes combine two different fibres or even twine a strip of cotton cloth with some actual string. It's fun to experiment. 😁♥️

Did i miss in your making of the twine video - how to add fabric to the length of the twine. I am making my rice bag twine and I sewed additional length of fabric to increase the length of the twine and it is a weird bulk to the twine. Could you help me with that. Of course, your rice bag was short video yet it has taken me 4 days. Of course, it was hand sewn and slow stitched but once I have the twine rope done for the handles, I can move on to the pin cushion

Hello Karen, yes I do talk about joining strips in the video, in short, I stitch together on the bias, trim the seam back to about eighth of an inch and stagger the joins. And actually mine took me way longer to make than the length of the video. Sloooow stitch, enjoy the process. Hope that's helpful, any more questions just shout 😁❤️

I heard it from another KZbinr that it can flag and get your video taken down, probably not true but I don't dare risk it. If it is true it's quite ridiculous as it's only a fibre (in this case) 😉
