Gotta say, you make some nice stars. I wish Pyrodata had videos for all their star compositions. I've been trying to find the brocade effect but no luck.
@robertschmits4304 Жыл бұрын
To start the stars, with lead shot..I always used a little bentonite clay first couple layers. Then the comp sticks to that very well. I didn't see if you did that or not, you Mentioned it was hard to get the comp started in the stars. Nice roller👍
@pa-pyro28042 жыл бұрын
Nice job a concrete mixer works well for rolling. The hand powered ones work to and there cheap. Regardless its nice to see the innovative I used to use my ball mill rollers to roll a container to make mine in before I gor the mixer. I still like to cut a lot of stars but round stars fit much better in ball shells

Uhhh you shouldn’t use lead shot bud! Use peppercorn seeds instead that way you don’t rain down bird shot all over the neighborhood. Just a tip.

Wow, you're not wrong about the dust mask. Didn't really think about it cause I was thinking about hand rolling and rolling in a wok. So I figured you'd be good if you put on gloves or even assiduously washed your hands. But yeah inhaling chlorates and soluble barium salts probably isn't on anyone's bucket list.

@afbennett30383 жыл бұрын
I think other types of cores can be used but lead shot is easy if you’re a beginner. Also it’s not very much lead per shell and I would assume that most of it is vaporised when the star burns

What happens to the lead shot? Does it call out of the sky? Does it get burned up and pollute the air with lead? Is there another core that could be used?
@afbennett30383 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what ends up happening to the cores but the amount is so tiny that it wouldn’t be at all dangerous to the environment. As for alternatives I think the next best thing is mustard seeds, they are harder to use though

@afbennett30383 жыл бұрын
@@ChiraqVet initially I was quite worried about the lead shot raining down everywhere but it really isn’t much per shell. A small spoonful of 2mm reclaimed shot makes a pretty large batch of stars and due to their weight the hardest part of the process which is getting them started is a lot easier.
