Wow! This is right down my street. Love love love easy, simple and cheap diy projects. I can make this. Home Depot or Lowe's can cut my wood measurements. It's on! Great job!

Looks great! Wood glue doesn’t adhere well to finished surfaces. It may separate over time/weight. Why not just put a backer piece and anchor that to the wall? You could do the full height, half or even a 1/4 if you wanted to keep an open look

The finished product looks really good, but I have to say, I'd suggest just gluing and Brad nailing the entire box together before poly. The glue really isn't gonna do much with the poly applied before hand. Lastly, I'd use a French cleat rather than pocket screws, when attaching it to the wall, but overall they look nice!

What are the measurements

floating shelves always look so good. Your light stands look so nice because they match the headboard so well. Great job. Just out of curiosity, is there a reason why you did not assemble the entire box first and then mount it?

Good question, I should have addressed in the video. For one it's hard to get the drill into the box to hit the screws, but also because sometimes the stud is right on the edge of the shelf and I can't get a screw in if the sides are in the way.

Great job. One word of caution, I noticed you don’t wear gloves . I am 69 yes old and been wood working since I was 18,take it from someone who never wore gloves when staining, your hands will darken over time and the stain particles will become impregnated into your skin pores, like a tattoo. after many years your hands will be much darker than your arms… lol, just kidding, 😂. Love your video.s

Haha! I do need gloves but I never heard of it staining hands, you almost got me lol

pocket holes into drywall is a bad idea. Research French cleats

I have brick wall so I think it would be tricky to use pocket holes, I'd like to try this with french cleats; how would you modify the design to incorporate that?
@Knate11045 ай бұрын
@@jonnybolton4659 take a strip of plywood about 3” wide and 15.5” long (width of nightstand 17”- ¾” on each side) and run it thru a table saw with the blade at a 45° . Then place one strip on the wall and one strip on the back between the sides, flush with back edge of the top. That’s it.
