How To Make Gorgeous Segmented Boxes on the Band Saw

Subscribe for weekly projects! Using maple and walnut I make segmented boxes on the band saw using my circle cutting jig. In total I made about 9 boxes w/ lids.

Love these. A simple tip...I needed to sand a bunch (hundreds) of candle holes. I made a sanding block like you did but glued a piece of sanding sponge to the bottom. Then I used spray mount on the entire spindle and used 3M rubber backed sand paper. It was efficient, fast and smooth as glass. Great project Linn!

That is a very nice project! I have seen many videos of segmented boxes, (mostly made on the lathe,) but your idea of doing it with the bandsaw makes a lot less waste, and allows one to make several boxes at once. Very useful and very informative, Darbin. Thank you for sharing with us. Ed

+Alan Erickson yes it would be. i have made some vases and i use a paint roller with sand papper on it to do the inside . if you look up on handcraftedwoodshop on face book you can see my vases there cool

I just came across this video and was thinking the same thing. I have a spindle/belt sander so sanding on that then adding the bottom would be easier.
